As far as the Target news, can any insider tells us what this means as far as software selection. Will they start carrying a lot more BDs than they've been carrying?

Pissed ? Only so regarding how the expectant spin control is probably already occurring unabated in the Blu-ray software section of the reputably “take the high road” forum by HD DVD fanatics. And the mods wonder why they have so many problems over there.

that would be nice but not likly. Q4 is shaping up to be awesome for BD.

thanks to Paid, Penton, Kjack for your continued support of this forum and BD owners.

just 1 more annoucment before the fall would be quite crippling, go on tell us a chinese BD player is coming to cater for the low end market. LBH, thats all that needs to happen to turn the tide big time.

This “take the high road” forum. Would this happen to be the one I get dragged through the coals on?

I do my best to keep that place balanced. I Always try to Voice Sanity at that place

'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' is coming to Blu-ray, this is now my most anticipated title yet for Blu-ray!

I'm just hoping Sony will hear me out...

Subtitle the special features in English. I am a huge fan of Spielberg and I would just die *knock the wood* if the special features weren't subtitled. Especially if I have to pony up $50 for it.

Now, I sound desperate. I can't help it if I'm deaf. :-/

paidgeek,

Can you tell us anything about this one. Like was Spielberg involved and did he give this his approval? I'm figuring it is possible that Sony could do the Blu-ray release without his approval, but just wondering if he had a position on it. Also, can you tell us anything about the quality of the master? I saw this on an HD channel a while back and that beginning with the sandstorm looked like it would be pretty tough. And if the BD will have all 3 versions, will it use seamless branching?

Thanks,
Darin

I second Banjo on this one. To all the BD supporting studios - please include subtitles and SDH on all video and audio interview materials!

To CEs and those related to CEs as well as BD studios: please figure out a way to get BD-Live players to be blind-friendly so that descriptive tracks for the blind can be downloaded with a single or no-button push!

yeah Paidgeek or Penton,

what's the story behind this first Spielberg hi-def. I thought Spielberg didn't allow any of his movies in hi-def, until the war is settled.

I know people don't want me to enforce Q&A only rules on this thread, but if this off-topic discussion continues, I will! Please, ask questions and avoid posting anything informational. In case I'm not being clear, this is how the conversation should go:

You: What about __________?
Insider: This is what I know about that...
You: Thanks!

These insiders take time out of their busy days to answer your questions, and they don't need the added work of sifting through your off-topic discussion to get to the questions. They want to help, but drift off-topic only causes additional work for them. Respect their generosity and keep this question and answer only!

If you have something to add or an additional question to a question a user has posted, sure post it, but drifting into rants or information posts about unrelated material is not appropriate for this thread.

Thanks for your assistance.

Since the CE3K news broke I'm hearing that the BD will use seamless branching and that HD DVD isn't capable of that. Is that true?
