Unfortunately, that's what I thought too after he went from hero to zilcho seemingly overnight (well, between seasons). Damn.

I want to know who keeps leaking out names from the list, because I'm pretty sure they're committing a crime. Maybe A-rod convinced someone to leak these last few.

Well not to mention if the best pitchers and almost every team had at least 1 good to great player doing it. In my op it would make it much less a deal for the big guys then if they were the only ones doing it.

They were talking about this on Pardon the Interruption yesterday. The Sox have mandatory training and lifting for their players, and Dice-K says it wears him down and is making him worse. He doesn't think it's an effective strategy for Japanese players, who have a different body type (according to him). He never lifted in-season when he was in Japan and always stayed healthy. He's been horrible ever since the World Baseball Classic and if I was an owner I'd never let any pitcher or star player play in that exhibition.

As for steroids, just release the list already. It just makes the clean players look bad because the suspicion is there.

yeah, and also if 90% of the best players were doing it then the playing field for the top guys was about the same. Just like with A-rod when we go to an O's game and someone's screaming roids at A-rod, I've said before brian roberts did it to.

hmmm, I wonder why he wouldn't go talk to terry, or theo about it, everything I've seen from them shows they seem to be player conscious.

Yankees fan--here lol. Joba had a great game yesterday. I think Girardi should have kept him in for the entire game. Bruney hasn't been the same since he's been back from the DL.

3.5 games ahead of Boston...always a good thing...

Yup, and Boston is heading in the wrong direction big time. First the offense dropped off, and now pitching is a problem (from starters to relievers to Papp).

I liked the idea of the WBC, but it doesn't work well with MLB. They can't do it after the World Series, because I think that'd take away from the World Series, and everyone would be all baseball'ed out anyway. So that means it's either pre-season or mid-season, and neither seem like a great option.

Pre-season means you have a bunch of guys who aren't in top form yet, and that may increase the risk of injuries, which is already a big concern.

Mid-season wouldn't work, because that's too long of a gap to put into the season, but if you did that, you'd have to push back the ending of the season (meaning the World Series would be in late November... which is kind of cold in a lot of places), or push the season forward (meaning the season starts in March... which is kind of cold in a lot of places).

The problem is that without the MLB players playing in it, the WBC would never work.

I think he's been perfect for so long he should have a little self destruction lol

I really think they will be fine maybe not this year but with the prospects and young talent they have they shouldn't jump ship and just start popping trades off to get 30 somethings.

I was fine with him being taken out. What I don't get is why they keep throwing at Longoria. I'm sure Teix wasn't thrilled about it, although maybe he takes a bit of pride in knowing he's the guy they chose to retaliate on, over someone like A-rod.

I heard Steve Phillips on Sportscenter at lunch and he was saying they can't release the whole list because every player on the list could sue because the players were promised the list would be destroyed. If the identity of the person leaking the names came out Ortiz, Manny, Sosa, and A Rod could all sue that person. So odds are we'll keep having names trickle out every couple months.
