Only 26 starts for Pavano in 4 years with the Yanks after signing a 40 million dollar deal... Guy is a clown in my book.

He was awful, but you gotta admit the Yankees were at fault for that deal. Pavano had one good year his entire career and was already injury prone when the Yankees threw all that money at him. That deal was made right around the time the Yankees were at their height of excess in salaries. That same offseason they also gave an aging Randy Johnson $16 mill a year and Jaret Wright something like $7 mill a year.

Yankees like to pick up any pitcher that has 1 good season during their contract year. See Javier Vazquez.

@KFCBarstool: The 2 highest paid #Mets outfielders this year are Jason Bay and Bobby Bonilla. That is literally unbelievable.
Jason Bay: playing for the Mariners, being paid $18 million by the Mets.
Bobby Bonilla: retired in 2001, being paid $1,193,248.20 by the Mets (every year from 2011 until 2035). Originally, he was only owed $5.9, but will instead make a little shy of $30 million.

A lot of smack talk coming out of a fan whose team hasn't been the Series since 1996, and hasn't won a ring since 1995

Braves made the WS in 1999. Aren't you a Yankees fan?

I stand corrected. The point doesn't change with a 9 at the end rather than a 5. Yup Yankee fan. Born and raised in the Bronx (Pelham Bay).

Ok, I was only asking because the Braves actually played the Yankees in 1999 WS.

What does that have to do with a team spending 19 million on people not on their team? And when were the Mets last relevant at all?

Yes I remember it. The Braves were swept 4-0

I don't know. Just an awful a lot of smack talking coming from your direction. I don't know 2000 was the last time they were in the WS, so 1 year after you guys were last there.

And he's not even a Mets fan. This is officially the first time I've ever heard a Yankees fan defend the Mets.

What part of what I posted was smack? I find it funny that they cut a guy they owed 18 million (and thus accrued an extra 3 million in debt) and another they are paying 24 million more than they owed.

And there's more to relevancy than a WS. Otherwise the Yankees and Red Sox wouldn't have gotten any coverage the last few years.

Since 2009 for us . I beg to differ. Relevancy and a successful season means a WS win. Otherwise it was a disappointing season at least from my perspective. The bar is just that high as a Yankee fan. If your bar is lower, that's because your team hasn't had the sustained success that my team has. When you win 4 out of 5 and then only miss the playoffs once since 1995, my expectations is to win. Is it unrealistic for my team to win every year? Of course it is, but the standard has been set.

Bagging on the Mets and Yanks sure sums up the previous two posts from my original post of today.

It's nice to have 2 in 3 years. Though one could also say 2 World Series in a half century for the Giants. Both are true.

The bar hasn't been lowered despite one championship in 12 years?

Not at all since we've missed the playoffs once in 17 years in the best division of baseball over that time.

So the Yankees have been relevant once in the past 12 years?

And seriously, the only person that came in talking smack was you. I guess seeing your football team trying to dump its only good player can put one in a bad mood.

I don't get it either. All you brought up was the horrendous contracts to people like Bonilla, which is all true. For crying out loud the Mets basically gave the guy a lottery payment plan where he's making millions for decades. Even the one Mets fan I know admits his team has made some terrible deals.
