I wonder how big of names we're talking. This could be interesting.

Excited for the debut of Javier Baez for the Cubs tonight. Hopefully he can live up to the hype and be a big part of the team's future.

Let's not forget they just dished out a top 5 pitcher contract for Tanaka an unproven MLB player. But yeah because they didn't sign Cano to a horrendous contract they are now penny pinchers (even though we have the second highest payroll in the league).

See where we are, see where Oakland is? Kinda sad on our teams parts is it not?
If you see the trades that were made (or not made) is a sign of that. We needed a RF with pop, (Marlon Byrd was perfect for us and for the taking). What we get? A utility playing RF. Granted, the McCarthy & Headley trades have worked out for us so far (and we didn't give up much for them), we needed a Power hitting RF and another starter (maybe we could have gotten Price based on what the Rays got, but I highly doubt they would have dealt within the division). Had they not done the moves they did in the offseason, we wouldn't be leading the AL in attendance this year.

PS, you got to give Brad Pitt props for the moves he made this year.

Somebody will be offering him that. I don't know if it will be the Yankees or not. All I do know is that it won't be the Tigers. I doubt they go a penny over the 144 they already offered him. Especially now that they have Price.

You're making it sound like the Yanks blew him out. It was 2-1. It wasn't really Scherzer that went down. It was the Tigers offense.

No doubt. I hope he, Soler, Bryant, Russell are all in the majors by this time next year.

Yeah and Amaro wanted the moon for a 37 year old hitter who has 1-2 years left max if that. But by all means let's continue the perpetuation of doing stupid deals. This isn't 1996 and Cecil Fielder isn't coming.

You really are completely unrealistic . The great white buffalo wasn't walking through our door, and I'm glad we didn't overpay for his geriatric blue brother...

So saying down goes Scherzer now means Scherzer was shelled. I can see that parallel lol.

Rough start for him 0-5... Then he came up in the 12th with a game winning homerun, like R3 would say.. BOOM

And what team doesn't have holes? The Tigers came into this year with holes at Short, OF, Bullpen, and Catcher. We got lucky for SS and OF and ended up actually having an abundance of talent due to our farm system. Our biggest issue was out Bullpen and we did what we had to in an attempt to fix that.

Leading the AL in attendance in your market is cake, there's how many people living in NYC? How many visiting on a daily basis? Your market is the biggest market in the country. Even with a crappy team playing like you guys are right now with heart being Jeters farewell season you would still have CG Sellouts so don't give me that the moves we made this year make us the best in attendance crap.

With a farm system worth a damn like you guys have, its how your still in contention it makes up for the holes you inherently have to start the season. You seem to be in the mind set that you need 9 Mickey Mantles on the field at all times to be worth a damn. This is not the case, your farm system should be able to account for injuries and the inherent holes you will have when you start the season.

I would expect Soler to get called up fairly soon. His contract goes through 2020 regardless of when he's called up so it's not a situation like the drafted players where they have an incentive to delay his MLB debut. I'm curious what they're going to do with Bryant and Russell position-wise. I've seen a lot of speculation that he's going to end up in the outfield with Russell moving to third.

Baez is not going to have a great batting average this season, he still struggles with his discipline although he's improved greatly over the last year, but he's got some major power.

I think Russell at 3rd is probably the best bet. I can't see Castro playing at 3rd so Russell would be the most logical choice to move to 3rd base.

I'm on the cover of this week's Sports Illustrated with Harmon Killebrew! And Don Sutton! And Peyton (though looks like you can only see him)! And Chipper (though it's entirely blocked)!

Looks like someone was blacklisted.

Even though the Yankees are a team that needs starting pitching, they weren't in on the Price sweepstakes. Nor were they contenders to land Jon Lester or John Lackey from the Boston Red Sox. And it's not because Yankees GM Brian Cashman didn't try.

Rather, it's because, according to Newsday's David Lennon, both the Red Sox and Rays GMs had their marching orders: They were free to trade their aces, just not to the Yankees.
