It is an odd year, so they'll miss the playoffs.

Well, hopefully they will make the playoffs and make it an even odder year.

We love you here in SF Panda, always will, but come on bro why all the disrespect to your teammates? They didn't have anything to do with the team low balling you before the season started, what's the point saying I only miss 2 guys, or stuff like who's Aubrey Huff

I must be the only Giants fan who disliked Sandoval. Yes, he was great in the post-season, but i never liked the guy one bit. Always seemed selfish and never seemed willing to put in work unless it was for a self-serving purpose. He just always rubbed me the wrong way and the comments about Huff, one of the coolest Guys to have played for the Giants, just reinforce that.

Easy to say this now, but i was glad the Giants got rid of him. I had the same thoughts during the season last year. His undisciplined hitting drove me nuts.

He was money in the post, though.

Will be interesting to see what happens with him in Boston now that he's got his money. I have a feeling he will balloon up and be a DH in a couple years.

Panda was always looking out for Panda, period. The dude is only 28 and has had problems fielding his position because of his weight. The reason they didn't offer him a huge contract before the season wasn't disrespect like he called it, it was the fear that he'd balloon up and his body would start breaking down again.
He now has his huge contract and in a year or two he can be full time DH, even if he gains another thirty pounds he can probably hit, but his power numbers weren't impressive last year.
Everybody loved him....like you said....because he's money in the postseason. Why he feels the need to become a d-bag now just shows what kind of character he was all along, and why the Giants weren't too afraid to let him go.

Yeah, i agree.

That's another reason why i was glad SF didn't give him big money. His weight discipline would go out the window. I think his power #s will go up in Boston, but in SF's park, they weren't great.

Cain and Vogey, both poor today. Didn't see them pitch, only going off #s. Staff has been awful so far this spring. Could be an ugly year.

When Panda starts not being able to make simple plays because of his weight, like what he was benched for in the 2010 postseason...we will see how fast the Boston faithful turn. I live on the east coast. In NO way is he ready for that kind of scrutiny that comes with playing on east coast teams. What is the over/under on when his not talking to the media will start? Boston fans won't like the fact that simple plays he won't be able to make. Remember they used to boo Ted Williams back in the day, and he was only the greatest hitter of a generation and beyond. Good luck Panda. You could of been a legend , had you stayed in the bay. Ego got the best of you and your half-@$$ed commitment to a sport you claim to love.

Is baseball dying? Nope, actually the values of MLB teams are skyrocketing

Pretty good read on mlb team values....

Quote:
Among the interesting takeaways:

• The Yankees had the highest revenue last year, with $508 million, but only $8.1 million of that was profit, according to Forbes.

• The most profitable teams were: The St. Louis Cardinals ($73.6M), Chicago Cubs ($73.3M), San Francisco Giants ($68.4M), Boston Red Sox ($49.4M) and the Pittsburgh Pirates ($43.6M). Surprised to see the Pirates there? Well, the San Diego Padres were seventh with $35 million in profits.

• Four teams didn't turn a profit last year, according to Forbes, and they weren't necessarily the small-market teams you expect: The Philadelphia Phillies (-$39M), Detroit Tigers (-$20.7M), Toronto Blue Jays (-$17.9M) and Arizona Diamondbacks (-$2.2M).

• The top five most valuable teams? You might have been able to guess them: The Yankees ($3.2B), Los Angeles Dodgers ($2.4B), Red Sox ($2.1B), Giants ($2B) and Cubs ($1.8B).

My plans to go to Diamondbacks opening day on Monday may have hit a snag. I'm flying Allegiant, because that's the only airline that flies direct from Iowa to Phoenix, but their pilots are planning on going on strike tomorrow. Allegiant has filed a lawsuit calling the strike illegal, but if that fails it looks like I'm out of luck and have the option of either not going or paying about $300 more and flying another airline.

Edit: A judge issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting the pilots from striking, but he didn't say how long it will last. There's a real possibility I will be able to fly to Arizona tomorrow but not fly back on Allegiant.

Does anyone here have any experience with MLB TV Premium? I'm specifically interested in streaming to the PS3/PS4. I'm just wondering if someone could give me an idea of what to expect quality-wise. I used to get it on my laptop, but I got rid of it after the Mets September collapse and tear down of 07. I'm feeling optimistic enough this season to pay for it again.

My roommate has it and likes it a lot. He uses a PS3 to stream most Mariners games and the quality is pretty good. It rarely has buffering issues and the picture is very clear. It's not HD quality, but it's close.

The only issue is MLB's moronic blackout rules so he can't get all the games. However, part of that is due to the fact we live in Iowa and Iowa is considered a home market for the Cubs, White Sox, Twins, Cardinals, Brewers, and Royals (tied with southern Nevada for the most teams blacked out) so any time a game involves one of those teams the game isn't available. However, depending on where you live the blackout rules may not be that bad.

Bruce Bochy and GM Brain Sabean have been extended though 2019, not sure about contract terms but WELL deserved, there's not a better coach in the MLB right now then Bochy

Thanks. I live in Canada, so the only thing they would black out would be the Blue Jays. My cable package gets me every Jays game.

I have super high speed (1 Gbps), but even when I was on 10 Mbps with TWC, quality has always been good at worst. MLB Advanced Media knows what they are doing. Their product has been so good that WWE hired them to run the WWE Network, and I believe there are other companies working with them on streaming services.

I can't believe Hamilton escaped punishment. The only reason he admitted it early is because he knew he was about to flunk his drug test. It's one thing if he was readmitted way back without stringent weekly testing and freely admitted it but he gets tested three times a week.

I'm afraid this won't be last relapse he suffers during his career if this is the attitude that he's going to take.
