Cleveland just handed this series to the yanks. They didn't trust in their other starters. They had a two game lead and could have used Bauer tonight instead of game four and give Salazar or Tomlin game four. They should have changed the rotation to see if that could spark their offense. They were fortunate last to sweep their way to the World Series, but it bit them when they could t finish off Cihicago.

What an amazing comeback by the Yanks. If not for Tanaka and Severino's dominant performance at home in games 3 and 4, there is no game 5. Sabathia was incredible tonight and Girardi made the move at the right time and a fully rested Robertson and Chapman took care of the rest. Just amazing.
Bauer should not have started on short rest but I don't understand why anyone would think that Kluber should not have started this game. He's a cy young award winner and pitched incredibly well down the stretch this season. Kluber had to get it done tonight and he didn't. Wonder if he is hurt or just lost it these last two games. |

I get he's a Cy Young winner (and possibly again this year), but he was trash in Game 2. Normally I say use your ace as much as possible, but our other pitchers would have all been fine (Salazar being the riskiest, but I don't think he would have done worse). But the defense was sloppy, the bats weren't hot, it wasn't just pitching.
Congrats to NY, hurts to say that, but they wanted this more than we did when it was crunch time. |

There was an incredible amount of pressure on the Indians this series, especially after the world series last year and just the way they played with the winning streak and the amount of wins they had in the regular season. The only way they were going to win this game was for Kluber to be dominant and it just didn't happen. But at the end of the day, I think the pressure just got to the Indians, especially with their offense. Yanks had a rare year where they were the underdog and I think that kept the pressure off them this series allowing them to come back.

There's no reason Kluber should not have pitched last night. If 37 year old CC Sabathia could pitch a great game on the same amount of rest, there's no excuse for the much younger, and better pitcher in Kluber. It's not even like he did terrible, he gave up 3 hits, and struck out 6 in 3.2 innings. It just so happened that Didi had him figured out, and 2 of those hits were homeruns.
Most of the Yankees have played terribly this series, but so did the Indians as well. It definitely was not a showcase of the best each team had to offer. The tribe had an incredible season, and I think they'll continue to dominate the central for a couple more years. If it's any consolation, odds are the Astros are going to destroy whoever won ![]() Last edited by MifuneFan; 10-12-2017 at 03:52 PM. |

I'm assuming you're referring to the players in their lineup, since outside of Gray and Green who gave up the grand slam, they pitched pretty well. I give all of the credit to the Indians pitching staff (starters and relievers) for keeping the Yanks offense in check most of the series. I don't think the Astros have anywhere near as good of a pitching staff as the Indians which gives me hope as a Yankee fan against the Astros. The Yanks big problem will be keeping the Astros off of the scoreboard. Their entire lineup is red hot right now and we'll find out if that's because the Boston pitching stunk or if they're just a lineup that is going to hit any pitching thrown their way this October.

Well...my thoughts on Judge is that he shouldn't be hitting 2nd. Gardner didn't have a great series except for yesterday, specifically in the 9th with an epic AB that probably prevented Chapman from blowing the game, but you can't put a strike out machine in Judge behind him. You need someone who can put the bat on the ball. I'd move Hicks to 2nd and drop Judge to 6th or 7th. I would also look to get Holliday in the lineup, particularly against Keuchel, since Ellsbury and Headley have done nothing.

Got no dog in the MLB fight cuz the Phillies suck, but I got friends/fam in DC and I have a dope Yankees hat so I guess those are the two I'm rooting for. But I wouldn't mind LA making the World Series, too. And I guess it'd be nice to see Houston in the WS after what they've been going through the last couple of months.
As long as the DS and WS series are good, that's what matters most. Gonna be at a bar tonight for Eagles/Panthers and Nats/Cubs. Should be fun! ![]() |
