Glad New York pulled it off, extra rest or not.

Though I still see Houston pulling out the Game 1 win unless a miracle happens with the Yanks offense exploding out of nowhere.

Really, Boone just needs to get the proper rotation for the ALCS so that if it comes to a G6 or G7, they’re not scrambling for their top relievers every single game.

And Judge and Stanton need to consistently deliver. Too many K’s for Judge in that ALDS.

Heh...it was bittersweet seeing him get trolled by Gleyber and of course, I had to change up my avatar to reflect that. Naylor's rock the baby charade will follow him for the rest of his career-at least against the Yankees. Just ask Pedro!

Verlander was solid tonight with 9 strikeouts.
Looks like Game 1 will be a lock for Houston thanks to Clarke Schmidt. Boone should have only let him pitch 1 inning after he got into trouble.

But honestly…17 strikeouts for the Yankees is just pathetic. Astros only struck out TWICE! That 15- strikeout differential is the largest in postseason history.

And for the love of Christ, keep Carpenter out of the lineup tomorrow. 0-6 -all strikeouts.

Verlander is pretty incredible, pitching better than ever at 39, thanks to the Tommy John surgery. He had a strong outing, but Yankees still missed some opportunities to get to him. They had 2nd and third with 1 out, and Donaldson strikes out. The Yanks offense is woeful right now, and not just Judge, though I'm sure he'll be the prime target of the media. Rizzo, and Bader, and maybe Stanton are the only ones that seem to be doing okay lately, but they absolutely need Gleyber, and Judge to start hitting. Also, I really miss LeMahieu right now.

When I watched the Verlander highlights post-game, they showed him dominating the Yankees with his curveball. Almost EVERY pitch shown, swinging strikeout or otherwise, was outside the zone and not a strike.

Maybe the strategy for his next outing should be to lay off his curveballs completely (at least for the first few innings) and actually make him work for it or just throw fastballs. That was a winnable game despite the short rest and quick turnaround from the ALDS. Hopefully they watch the tapes and can learn from their mistakes.

The Yankees have a lot of key injuries which I don't think they can overcome against the Astros. Losing DJ was critical since he's one of their only contact hitters.

Carpenter shouldn't be playing, he's just too rusty.

Carpenter had a nice run before he got injured. It was a great story but all good things come to an end. 0-8...all strikeouts. Just absolutely atrocious and embarrassing at this point.

I feel bad for the fans who paid big money to go to this game tonight. They're basically watching the Astros face a AA-caliber team. It's no wonder they're even booing Judge now.

I like Judge...but I don't love him which translates to me not missing the guy if he doesn't re-sign this off season. It's a strong possibility if they get shut out tomorrow-which I believe they will. He's 30, prone to injury and strikes out a lot. He's not worth 350-400m, but some teams may think otherwise.

I feel like he'll end up on the West Coast. He grew up out there and rooted for the Giants.

I really like Harrison Bader but he was oblivious when asked about the play that pretty much cost them the game. Had to ask "which play" ..
