Justin Morneau is now out the entire postseason. He had hoped to return if the Twins made it past the ALDS but after talking with his doctors and Morneau the team decided to shelve him for the rest of the year.

Justin Morneau is one of the biggest wusses in sports, you see NFL players take off one week then come back from one of these. Second season in a row he's missed the post-season, it may be time to move on.

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi will announce his American League Division Series rotation on Tuesday and $82 million man A.J. Burnett is out, a baseball official with knowledge of the Yankees' thinking confirmed.

Girardi plans to use CC Sabathia for Game 1 against the Minnesota Twins and on short rest in Game 4. Andy Pettitte will be scheduled for Game 2 and would pitch on regular rest because of the off days before Game 5.

Phil Hughes will start Game 3 when the series moves from Minnesota to The Bronx.

The New York Post first reported the Yankees' planned playoff rotation in Tuesday's editions.

Girardi's news conference is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Minnesota.

The move to leave out Burnett is not shocking, since Girardi mulled removing Burnett from the rotation during the second half of the season. General manager Brian Cashman has said the Yankees' postseason rotation would be based on merit, not money.

Burnett is completing the second season of an $82.5 million, five-year contract, but has not come close to living up to his salary this season, in which he was 10-15 with a 5.26 ERA.

Last October, with the Yankees down a game in the World Series, Burnett won Game 2. Overall, he was inconsistent in the 2009 playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Twins plan on starting Francisco Liriano in Game 1, former Yankee Carl Pavano in Game 2, Brian Duensing in Game 3 and Nick Blackburn in Game 4.

Not sure Blackburn can beat Sabitha, even with the former on short rest.

There should still be a lot of Yankee fans at Target field, Yankees do well against us in the post-season and regular season and it's not that far from NY anyway.

why do you even cheer for the Twins? your already giving up hope and they havent even played a game yet... and your predicting the yanks sweep the Twins... wow

I have faith that the Braves will give the Giants all they can handle and not sure we can beat the Yankees in NY...

It'd be interesting to see what happens if Girardi leaves the Yankees, and both teams in NY are shopping for new managers. I doubt the Yankees front office would swallow their pride and bring Torre back, but who knows.

I hope you realize that the divisional series is the best 3 out of 5 not 4 out of 7.

Wow, your right he is going to be making 16.50 million for the next three years!! Gotta be one of the worst contracts ever. Wonder if he'll ever bounce back.
