Almost won gold glove at 1st also not to mention he has done well in MVP voting 2x may not have won it but he has done well. Hes as much a shoo in as Verlander would be.

2 batting titles.

But after 10 years, he does not have a HOF resume. VERY few players ever have. Albert Pujols, ARod (pre-steroids) and Ichiro are the only 3 current players I think did. Will he make the HOF? Probably, as long as he doesn't pull an Andruw Jones (who was also a "lock HOF" after 10 years) as others have posted.

I will be happy splitting the games there, we have been notoriously poor on the west coast. I don't think you guys can take 2 out of 3 in Cincy though

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling might have to sell the famed blood-stained sock he wore during the 2004 World Series to cover millions of dollars in loans he guaranteed to his failed video game company.

Schilling, whose Providence-based 38 Studios filed for bankruptcy in June, listed the sock as collateral to a bank in a September filing with the Massachusetts Secretary of State.

Schilling also listed a baseball hat said to have been worn by New York Yankees great Lou Gehrig and his collection of World War II memorabilia.

The Boston Globe first reported the filing Thursday.

38 Studios was lured to Rhode Island from Massachusetts with a $75 million loan guarantee. The state is now likely responsible for some $100 million related to the deal, including interest.

You are aware when 38 Studios went under he lost his entire baseball fortune right? Dood is broke because of this. How is a software development company in an industry that generates 139 billion dollars a year a stupid investment. I think your looking at this the wrong way.

It's extremely risky. Look up the stock ticker on any video game company. There is a TON of volatility in that market. Even well established video game companies like Nintendo see huge market fluctuations. Last I checked Nintendo was down something like 70% in the past 3 years.

If you already have $50 or $100 million why would you risk it on a game company? That's more money than anyone needs in a lifetime. I'd have the bulk of my cash in little to no risk investments. But this is why athletes go broke. They have skills at handling finances.

And this company marketed their first game horribly, which flopped. Their second game was an ambitious MMO that never had a chance. It was a very poorly run company.

I was looking at tix this morning for game one....debating...

looks like $50 for top tier... and around 80 for next tier down

Section 205 for both games

Game 3 $67.80

Game 4 $82.80 (if necessary)

I got both tix from ticketmaster this morning. That includes all fees.

1. Go to ticketmaster.com

2. Look for the game

3. Look for the section I want to sit at

4. Find the seat

5. Buy

6. Rinse and repeat

To many, retirement is not glamorous at all. Work gives you something to do post sporting career. And I don't think McDonald's or retail will do the trick.

Reds offense scares you? Have you not heard about our "September Slump"? We have been struggling just to get a few runs. Our pitching is what kept us in most games that we ended up winning. I just hope our offense decides to return to August form. Without it, we are dead in the water.

I will be at game 3 in Cincy (and 4 & 5 if it goes that far). If you guys end up beating us, you have to also take out the Cards if they are still in it. I don't think I could take another "Wild-Card World Series Champs" Cards winning it all again.

Oh, I know you mentioned our offense already. I was hoping that if maybe we keep talking how bad it is, it will finally kick in for the playoffs!

I hope we can take the first one to get it over with. It would lessen the stress of trying to take game 2 after losing game 1.
