How many days until baseball starts?

And how many more days until the Braves come out to KC?

Are they all A-ball? Who the hell would trade 3 guys for DeRosa?

The 2015 All-Star game will take place at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. It was widely expected that the game would take place at Marlins Park and there's a strong belief that the Marlins dismantling of their team this offseason cost them the game. This would be the second time a fire sale has cost the Marlins the opportunity to host the All-Star game, as they were originally selected to host the game in 2000 before having the game taken away following their dismantling of the 1997 World Series championship team.

Why did it take so long to get to GAB? Kauffman got it like 2 years after park updates. Have there been more new ballparks in the NL than the AL?

Why does it matter? I don't recall an All-Star game ever not selling out even when it's been played in a smaller market.

It's a punishment for being cheapskates. The entire city of Miami should be revolting against Loria.

I'm excited for this season. The Braves have a strong outfield with Prado, Heyward and BJ Upton (assuming they don't grab Justin Upton as well, in which case Prado moves to 3B). The IF is basically the same as last year, except Francisco will be the every day 3B (again, assuming they don't get JUpton) and Andrelton (the best defensive SS in the majors at 23) will be there from the beginning.

And then the pitching... The bullpen is actually better than last year. We have the best closer in the game, and we have three legit setup men. And then the starting pitching was rocking during the second half last year, so Hudson, Maholm, Minor, Medlan and Delgado/Tehran, which Beachy coming back mid-season.

Only weakness I see on the team right now is at catcher. McCann will be out a few weeks, and then who knows if he comes back as the perennial All-Star or what he's been the last few years since he had some issues with Lasix. Maybe Bethancourt will kill it in Spring Training and get the starting job. I also hope to see Evan Gattis have a hot spring and make it as a 4th OF and PH.

My parents have a place down there and this will be my third straight year going to the Diamondbacks home opener. Even though I'm not a Diamondbacks fan (I'm a Cubs fan) I still enjoy the atmosphere of opening day. The last couple years I've gone to Arizona a couple times and gone to spring training games but I'm considering buying a new house this year so I'm only going to go down there once.

Anybody in the Chicago area? I'm looking into going to see the Braves in Chicago in July (against the White Sox) and September (against the Cubs).

You guys want a real Opening Day no BS come to Detroit, the entire city shuts down for Opening Day here everyone is downtown either at the bars around the stadium or at the game. Unless you have season tickets you have to enter into a raffle to get Opening Day its crazy. Even when the Tigers were crap opening Day is a holiday here best party in the world.

It's even crazy in KC. KC has like thousands of fountains, and they dye the water blue for opening day. The stadium sells out (only other sell out most years is the Cardinals series). And you have to buy full or half season tickets, a 21-game pack (might be in 15 too) or win a lottery to get tickets, unless some are still available after that (not sure how often that happens though).

Diamondbacks opening day tickets are pretty cheap. I've always bought them on Stubhub and in 2011 I paid $18 (including fees) for a seat vs. the Reds in the lower-level of left field. Last year I got better tickets down the first base line in the outfield behind the Giants bullpen and prices were higher since they were unveiling the division title banner plus their are apparently a lot of Giants fans in AZ but the seat was still only $55 (including fees). Since last year's team wasn't very good I'm expecting tickets to be pretty cheap this year.

Especially if they dump Justin Upton, or even Jason Kubel.

Yeah here in the D you wont get a ticket for under 50 for the game and that includes the bleacher seats. Opening Day is considered a premium game so the price is raised.
