I'm very doubtful on that one. I really have the impression he's going to be ready to retire when Rossi does.

Thanks! I tried my best...

Yeah, I had to LOL at that; there were (are) so many of the usual suspects posting utter garbage there during the format war and even afterwards – and my post gets edited not for any factual error but too many links... I suppose they don't want too many folks to "discover" blu-ray.com and maybe stay here permanently...

LOL! So subsuming all their well-researched info, you are actually a hairdresser in a trailer park... And paidgeek probably lives in the trailer next to yours...

There's Penton, bragging about his trailer again.

It looks like "Cochise" just locked your thread which you initated on HDD.

The sad thing is that the additional "excessive external links" that you supplied in your OP, either directly answered some follow-up questions posed by members of that forum regarding the topic.....at least would have served a quick guide to help them find their answers.

That'll teach you to be proactive to the needs of others in the future when it involves linking Blu-ray.com on that particular forum.

First of all, I happened to be flipping past CNN and saw this photo as part of an MJ montage:

Thought this thread would find it amusing...

Secondly, and I ask this with requisite humility, is there any specific technical reason that subs can't be treated the way they were on -some- HD-DVD titles (ie., pressing C/D for changing text size/position). I know subs are done as a bitmap overlay on BD, but is there really no wiggle room in the spec for either the vector fonts mentioned above, or at least for moving/zooming the "tile" of the subtitle layer. I saw this being talked around above, and know full well it's outside the scope of the poll questions, but curious if Penton you could share some thoughts on how subs work on a tech level for those of us not in the know. Additionally, if there's any juicy gossip about how they decided on what tech to use for BD subs (ie., limiting the number to 32 "streams") I'd love to hear about it...

He is sensitive. Lately, he has been referring to Blu-ray.com as another site/the other site.

sharkshark,
You being an avid diver, have you seen The Deep yet on Blu-ray?

That film production was a watershed event in underwater filmmaking. A fabulous cast was assembled including Al Giddings, Stan Waterman, Jack McKenney, Chuck Nicklin, David Doubilet (http://www.daviddoubilet.com/) and other lesser knows at the time.

Hey, I have a job for you or the shark…….since with little effort, you two fellows are the quintessential contrarians……..

If you do a good journalist job ^, maybe one of the mods here will put it on the “News Piece” page to balance out the ‘Zyber factor’ and I won’t get any future complaints of “juiced horses” via P.M.

Start typing Mr. Screenwriter.
Let’s see how good you are.

Both Doctorossi and sharkshark have voted for option 1 (thanks! ), so I guess you'll have to find another "contrarian"...

While I may be a contrarian here and there (though I don't really think it an apt description), it would disappoint me for you to think my opinion on this matter an arbitrary or frivolous one. And that opinion, it should be clear by now, isn't in line with option #2, either.

As regards Mr. Z, while I've made some attempts elsewhere to illuminate the dogmatism in some of his statements, I must say I've been impressed by his advocacy of pre-electoral education.

And by the way,

Perhaps I used the wrong adjective in trying to enlist your help for the poor downtrodden Option #2ers who don’t seem to have an online Champion.

Well, don’t ever say I don’t do anything for you as you previously expressed interest in seeing the following motion picture.
This is inside information that I highly doubt you will find anywhere else on the internet as James is super busy right now with Ghost Whisperer…..
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460644/

But, there is an excellent chance that No Subtitles Necessary: Laszlo & Vilmos will be exhibited at the George Eastman House (check the Dryden Theater website periodically) in November-ish if all the stars become aligned.

Maybe you can hook up with Vincent P. and RAH to do the trek over to Rochester. Perhaps Vilmos might even be at the presentation and Vincent P. can ask him about ‘flushing the exposure’ during McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

Meanwhile, to whet your appetite………

Dude, you are pressing my buttons!

Thank you!

Have I gone on about McCabe & Mrs. Miller around here, or are you just guessing (correctly) that it's my stuff?

No, but based on your tangential request I -did- book my dive trip to the BVIs yesterday, and I'll be visiting that boat... I think I'm going to wait to watch the flick -after- I have done the dive...
