Welcome to the forum Elvis.
Thanks for the reply and the welcome. I've been a long time lurker but figured I should sign up after my wife bought me a PS3 last week as a wedding anniversary gift. I've been a member at AVS for awhile (lurked there for almost a year too) but have really been turned off by some posters over there.

On a seperate note, what part of England are you from? My wife was born and raised in Birmingham.

MaxPower1987 is from the UK, no one knows who/what Penton is, or where he was born....

Well don’t confine yourself to the “insider” threads, as we have a lot to offer here about.
Threads like the following link are actually my favorites because they demonstrate the camaraderie of the forum members without the high-def snipes, jabs and hidden agendas exhibited some other places on the net.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=43358

And our news thread is phenomenally *cutting edge* having scooped mainstream news outlets several times on items of interest to Blu-ray followers.
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/

I really think that we have the foundation to make this forum a very special place for all high-def media enthusiasts.

A format war documentary is a great idea assuming accuracy. I can see myself plonking down money for such a thing.
I agree it may be best to hang fire until the dust has settled some more though.

Day 400: Sitting in a nice chair, overlooking 20 workers
Day 750: Sitting on a toilet, overlooking the parking lot

I don't say this to single any one out - there are a few insiders, and dozens of non-insiders, who seem to enjoy nothing more than gloating about how wrong the "red ants" were, and dragging this hostility out. I just think we'd all be happier if we tried to get things back to friendly discussions, and let other forums work out their own shit.
There are a lot of people on both sides who have contributed to the issues, but the vast majority of outright lies and FUD came from a select few... sorry to say on the red side. Not Bd didn't even any, but they didn't NEED to resort to it. The problem now is the obvious undercurrent of denial/anger that many of these folks cling to.

Good Bye Ken Graffeo and all like you. You have no honor, integrity or place amoung the Human race. Enjoy the millions you made from the now bankrupt HD DVD innocents whom you didn't give a shit about. Good Luck? No. Go to Hell.
I totally concur, and could not have stated your sentiments any better.

Well, the filmmaker routinely reads this thread so some of you may desire to input your 2cents as to the project's worthliness for a potential disc purchase down the line. I'm sure he's listening to guage consumer interest before going too far out on a limb financially.

Myself, I believe him to be an honest fellow; however, I foresee him having a difficult time getting truly knowledgeable Blu insiders on camera so soon after the red surrender.

This one would be VERY high on my list of must-buys! But I understand that a good amount of time would needed for things to cool down, and for wounds to heal before anything of this sort could be made. But I'm sure I speak for most of us, I think that would be amazing! Even a book would be awesome. This format war was beyond intense, the VHS/BETA, or DVD/DIVX wars, or many of the other ones that come to mind don't hold a candle to this one!

Penton could be in it, but you could do an interview as a dark shadowy figure to conceal your identity! :-)

Penton, you have to get permission from fox to use Homer's image and get Dan Castennella to redub Max

I think like most documentaries, they're really best when their subject matter has some time to stew a bit. Maybe in 2010 or something

I think you have Graffeo all wrong. It was never personal, it was the guy's job. Even Bill Hunt wished him the best in his recent update. I'm sure there was someone like Graffeo proselytizing for Sony during the Betamax days.

Agreed - it was the guy's job. Universal and Toshiba aren't evil - they thought their product was good (which it was in many, although obviously not all, respects) and tried to do what was necessary to ensure its success, and they simply failed. There wouldn't be too many "good guys" left if everyone ever involved in evangelizing a product that went on to fail was branded as bad - just thankfully most such products die sometime during development, and not on the marketplace.

I don't wish any more misfortune upon Graffeo.

Depends. Did Graffeo apply policy or make policy at Universal?

BTW, Penton:

Warner's Nickerson is out. Microsoft's Majidimehr is out. Universal's Graffeo is out. But I haven't heard about any heads rolling at Toshiba (Japan or America). Will nobody be made accountable there?
