The Euro Cup's been pretty good so far.

Spain is in there. I watched them walk all over Russia the other day. That David Villa is a monster... cutting through the Russian defence like a hot knife through butter. Easy hat trick for him. Their next match is June 14th, I believe.

Yes! Beat Russia last tuesday 4-1 and plays again tomorrow against Sweden.

Apparently, we have a decent chance of passing querter finals this time around...

Not far away from my place. Are you going to IBC this year? I'll likely go again.

I wouldn't count out NED or POR, they both looked pretty good so far.

It's a cardinal sin that ENG couldn't even make it to the dance, but better than being beaten again in penalties by POR like WC'06 and EU'04.

Personally I couldn't be more happy that ENG didn't make it. They are always the most boring team to watch. Teams like NED, POR and ESP are always pushing the ball offensively. ENG's strategy has always been play defense, pass the ball around in circles and try to get a penalty.

Well anyway, Italy/Romania is coming on the tele in about 30min. or so followed by France/Netherlands (I think).
Problem is, my better half has practically the whole DVR filled up with her stuff and I only have space to record one match.
Which match does everyone recommend as the potential to be most entertaining ?

Italia-Romania is going to be a total bore.

Netherlands should kick the decrepit French team real good. Go for that.

Definitely France vs. Netherlands. Italy sucked (sorry, it's true) at the last game, but NED were displaying some great soccer. I hope I have time to watch it.

I'd rather be there too, as long as it's not getting knocked out by Portugal again with one of the world's most skilled players hampered by fits of falling over legs that are over 4 feet away.

I have to support ENG, because SCO hasn't done anything since scoring an own goal against Brazil to open France '98.

A perfect example of why it is always a good idea to use an anonymous internet handle.
Ted, I never got back to you on your question concerning digital cinematography/RAW 14 bit files, etc.

Short answer, the main advantage that film still has over digital capture is dynamic range.

Holland won't win, their win against Italy was rather fortuitous, an offside goal, and a couple of excellent counter attacks. I'm not sure France will be liable to that type of play as their defence is slghtly faster than the Italians.

Portugal, well, they are an interesting one, great players, good history, but I just don't fancy them agains set peices, it all looks a bit shaky.

Spain have got the two best strikers and possibly the best midfield.
The goal was clearly onside - even though a lot of people don't like that rule. No matter.

I have always like the style of play of Holland, Spain and Portugal (when they're not diving ) Maybe one of them will help me out this year and go further than usual
