I saw someone claim Dark Knight is the worst high def image they've ever seen. It's really just this: it's killing them that it's not HD DVD sales that are over one million from Dark Knight. What's even funnier is how many of them are supposedly outraged at the SD DVD quality of Dark Knight and Warner's supposed hidden agenda to "ruin" SD DVD quality to make Blu-ray look better than it really is. The fact BD has six times the pixel resolution and a whole slew of other PQ benefits including far superior compression doesn't matter as facts and reality have never mattered with them.
Too funny! I guess it's a new angle...

Losing? In the BD/HD-DVD area, they LOST it going back to the days of Amir. Logic and rational discussion has been gone for some time. It's why I don't really pay attention to anything related to optical discs over there. TVs, speakers, etc there is some good discussion to be had.

Not to worry.
I think these two posts just about sum up The Dark Knight on Blu-ray ……

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...sh#post1384427

and……………..
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=6530

and for those that are still sincere and would truly like to learn some motion picture science, then I would suggest reading this so that you can appreciate some of the technical aspects of the film………
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=6261........

rather than being pretend Q/C technicians when they’re not even familiar with the most rudimentary parameters (like bias values) in sharpening tools even on a consumer level.

Bottom line.
Excellent film.
Excellent Blu-ray.

And in two hours, is the BD-Live event with Chris Nolan.

There was a question posed during the screening to the effect of "What do you think of EE or DNR". To which CN replied something to the effect of "The projected or displayed image should be as faithful to the film as possible" and that he was surprised to see "disinformation" regarding the film's transfer to BD. Wonder if he got wind of the crazies at AVS.... Interesting...

I read the same thing and almost laughed thinking about AVS! I appreciated it was a two pee break movie. Also I found Mr. Nolan's comment about how digital filming even using the highest resolution digital cameras still does not approach the resolution of film. I guess their are some directors that will insist upon film because they feel it is a better media.

He was alerted to the *perceived* PQ issue.

The *science* forum alienated themselves from the major Hollywood studios awhile ago, then a boutique distributor MPI Media Group (Baraka), along with the two primary large format motion picture post production facilities in the U.S. (Fotokem and DKP) and now some Directors.

Their downward spiral of self-destruction continues……..

Prepare yourself for the upcoming bashing of South Pacific in regards to the in-camera filters.

It’s not just that, some Directors will continue to shoot film to pay homage to the history of filmmaking , their predecessors and those whom taught them their craft, perfect example being Steven S.

It’s actually quite refreshing to see someone as young as Chris Nolan express that attitude about film.

That's really annoying, Baraka is one great looking BD. Hopefully people will ignore them and buy the disc.

The paparazzi, sports, newspaper and magazine photographers said the same thing about digital camera technology in 2000 and 2001, but the technology quickly caught up with things like digital medium format backs. Now pretty much everyone in those worlds are shooting in digital.

I'd imagine there would be a day where directors would not have to worry about shooting 3 minutes of IMAX footage and can instead shoot directly on cameras with on-board petabyte hard drive storage.

I have noticed that Blu-ray.com has added many new new categories (pushing the Insiders Category way down the list - but first in importance ). It's good to see a healthy alternative to the other forums. I also appreciate the moderators here allowing a healthy and fair discussion of issues. Perhaps you should advertise this forum as "Maximum Information - Minimum BS".

Onboard being the operative word. I watched the making-of docu on Park Chan-wook's I'm a Cyborg and the Thomson VIPER was a major pain in the butt with its separate storage.

For those film fans that may be unaware, this is how the Oscar Nomination process works…….
1- Throw all genre screener discs in the trash can. Nothing Sci-Fi can possibly be any good. They should take their VFX, Sound and makeup awards and like it

Hey Penton! I have a question and I'm not really sure if you're the right guy to go to, but I'll give it a try! Is there a possibility of having a Christmas Vacation 20th anniversary release next year? I know it might be a little too early to start asking, but I did some googling and it seems even the question of it hasn't popped up much. I just don't want to buy the current version and then get slapped in the face next Christmas. Thanks in advance!
