I obviously don't know any details (especially around contracts and such), but the more I think about this, I'm thinking the "delay" (from previous expectations/hints of a timeline) with regards to Paramount and/or Universal announcing for BD is for one major reason. That is, the more this "positive BD news" snowballs, the more likely it is that P & U won't announce "going nuetral", but rather they may be "waiting" to go straight to BD exclusivity. Why have yourself in the position of going neutral one month, and then a few months later going BD exclusive.
Think about it... |

I know this question treads on dangerous ground, but Im curious. So Ill ask it this way. Lets say I was a movie studio and I had today decided that I was going to put my films on the bluray format. Lets assume that I already had an HD Master of the film and all my audio and menu were complete. How long would it take for me to get my film in stores? This has NOTHING to do with WHEN Universal or Paramount make a decision. I know you cant go there, but I am curious is that IF they decided to go back to bluray whats a reasonable amount of time that they could get their first disc into consumer hands? Again, Im not asking for hints about Paramount and Universal's doings behind the scenes. It should be quite obvious what they are doing. Hopefully this question wont get me in too much trouble. |
