Do you anticipate it being a (THE??) landmark catalogue Blu-ray release?
Yes, for those who understand what the word "beautiful" means in terms of a film photographed on Eastman 5250. It will not look like a new film, nor should it.

The goal is to harvest every grain of information on the restored / reconstructed 65mm element, preserve it, clean it and create new film elements as well as digital masters. All 350,000 frames or so.

Right. Hopper never should've been involved in that mess, in the first place. If he hadn't been thinking about the other kind of green and had stayed with Suz, he'd probably still have a seat. Not that Suz aren't close to the edge, as well. I just have little sympathy, 'cause I think he made a $-first decision and would've been a better contender with Suz before the whole question of whether he's even going to make the grid now.

I was under the impression he bailed because he thought the Suzuki was being developed too slowly and Green was saying "we'll make every change that you request". I got the vibe he thought the green bike was better. I must have heard/read wrong. I guess DORNA is still pressuring K to run their bikes via a satelite team...since they bailed on a 3 year contract.

O.K. guys, I think you’re starting to either bore or scare some people with this conversation.

For those that are not following this eclectic moto-head discussion of two fans obviously enthused about another hobby, the Doctor and the Squid are talking about a motor-sickle racer that guys like paidgeek and I, and our friends, spend way too much money to watch ride loud two-wheeled machines around a circuit in Laguna Seca…..because one has to factor in lodging in the Monterey area, shopping bills for the wives in Carmel in addition to tickets to the event.

Do you really expect me to concentrate on your question when you changed your avatar to a pic of that hot babe?
Is she real or a ‘digital person’?

Unfortunately yes, they even co-finance a lot of stuff to lessen the impact of any potential flop.

Not fair! (we need a "folded arms" smilie) Penton gets to talk about wolves, "football" and ISDT....therefore MOTO GP is fair game.

Yeah yeah ...here he comes to pull rank, with the "Its my thread" routine.

And yes....the "loud" is so delicious.

Blu-ray will NOT be the way to see LoA for the first time.

Think 70mm!

Thanks to Mr. Harris's recommendation, I trekked down to the Senator in Baltimore to see LoA in 70mm

It was totally.....TOTALLY worth it

We were always very remake shy at the office, very rarely approving finance for them, but I never really figured on what the Hollywood view is.
The one thing I don't understand about the Day the Earth Stood Still remake. They could have inserted a simple "you didn't listen to me 50 years ago, so now we're back to kick some butt", and taken out a few redundant scenes and just called it DTESS 2: Klaatu Boogaloo

How about my question now?

In general, people in Hollywood that have the power to green light a film tend to be much more amenable to financing something that has a previously successful track record….even if that is slowly on the decline.

Some might think that this potentially could go too far……..

In order words *work it* for all (the idea) is worth……or, in honor of my friend, Esox…
