Isn't that the same thing? Sure buoancy would allow you to move it easier, but the weight would remain constant

We could dream the decision was approved a few months ago!!

But from what I can understand it is still an undergoing process...
This is a just sad. Sad for the film medium that it can't shine truly in its most natural way.

Anyways, keep us posted if there's something new.
Can you say at least if you think that by Mid-2010 we should be fine? If not Christmas 2010?

I’m not a bitrate counter per se, but does anyone know how the bitrate fares on Amadeus (without providing a self-gratuitous link to any other forum)?

which home theater enthusiasts that have a predisposition to renting or buying WB (which has a fine, fine library ) blu-ray discs may just have to live with for awhile , if not permanently.
I’m sure Grubert or some other online historians could find some apropos links/quotes that exhibited Amir’s great pride in seeing how low they (MS and WB) could go.

For those that are not following me, in very simplistic terms, “grain” is a bitrate hog. If you remove it, you don’t have to throw as many bits at the imagery for compression to Blu-ray.

The camera rig actually was so heavy that it took a crane to get it in and out the water.......and so big that an adult could have fit inside the aluminum housing itself, easily.

I saw it somewhere, it's mid-high 20s. definately a re-encode as they promised back in the fall. No 3-hour movie on an HD DVD encode would come close to that.

Of course, that still doesn't mean that a new non-smoothie master was created, which obviously didn't even happen

So………….the remainder of the scenes which were scheduled to be shot with and without a color filter, were only shot with a color filter as per the ‘advice’ of the Producer who had flown out to Hawaii from California to speak personally with the Director.

Next……….Post Production.

Post Production –

Joshua did a semi-rough cut but, neither had the foresight nor the time to watch over the post process, step by step, as he shortly thereafter became heavily involved in directing Blue Denim in New York.

Additionally, he left explicit instructions with his editor as to what to cut and what not to cut, etc. and with the lab that they should tone down the color from its appearance on the camera negatives and make it subtle. He trusted both his editor and his cinematographer, ‘Shammy’ with the respective duties he had delegated.

Ultimately, the first time he had the opportunity to see the final product was when it previewed in front of an audience in Hartford, Connecticut.

Addendum:
He later learned that ‘Shammy’ had not been allowed into the lab to supervise, much less even observe, the post production process in regards to his instructions for ……..’color’.

She must have been thinking of the Union of South Africa which she probably could also see from her window since it has the initials of USA.

Unfortunately it does seem to be using a master designed for the bit-challenged, so the gains are minimal ;(

At least the TrueHD track is appropriately wonderful
