I see PM is away this week. Is he mingling with the rich folks at the annual Allen & Co.'s media summit? I see all the big bosses are there this week.

NO!!!!!!! Where do you get your news? I read MotoGPdotcom and Crashdotnet.

Thank goodness. That would have created lots of problems for the teams and ruined wet/dry races. Not to mention a NIGHTMARE for the mechanics.

I used to be mainly a Roadracing World guy. Now, I'm mainly a MotoGPMatters guy. I actually got that particular tidbit from MotoGPod, though.

Yeah, to say nothing of being #6,417 on the seemingly never-ending list of GRAND PLANS intended to limit costs and/or speed which do nothing of the sort as any Joe could tell those bozos for a consulting fee of 50 cents.

Seems the Subtitle poll is gaining news http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...eeds_You!/2993

I hope Sony listens, shame it needs us to tell them what the common sense solution is. No offence P Man.

Wonder if voting will increase rapidly, or if we will see a spike in membership here (or if there is a ton of crossover with users being involved on both sites. As of now, this is where we are:

Current votes in poll 866
A) 424 (48.96%)
B) 311 (35.91%)
C) 131 (15.13%)

Should Lorenzo stay at Yamaha, and why? Heavy issue. Your thoughts please.

Yes, from every direction.

From the Lorenzo's career direction:

If he stays at Yamaha, he will either inherit or steal the crown soon enough.

If he goes to Honda, he may struggle like Hayden because

1. I'm not yet convinced he's a clever-enough and experienced-enough development rider to yank the stubborn HRC engineers out of the bad habits they keep going back to.

2. If HRC wouldn't listen to Rossi after he handed them a few titles, are they really going to listen to Lorenzo, even in their hour of desperation?

From the "Good of the Game" direction:

Were it somewhere else he was rumored to go, I might think he should, as he's such a strong competitor and Yamaha needs a killer threat to keep 'em pushing. That said, Melandri's been a strong competitor... Stoner's been a strong competitor...

From the Doctorossi's personal feelings direction:

Suck it, Honda!

None taken ;however, I’m not sure if you just offended the Option #1 advocates or the Option #2 advocates with the above statement regarding a “common sense solution”.

And if you are a proponent of Option #1 and feel that way about Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, then how exactly do you feel about WB and occasionally Fox in regards to their subtitle positioning practices, since they haven’t requisitioned, or much less even asked for public opinion on the matter?

You know, when I set up the voting options I was really tempted to add a 4th choice, namely………..

No Subtitles Necessary

just to pay homage to Laszlo (Ghostbusters ) and Vilmos, in a film by James Chressanthis which has been doing the film festival circuit and also exhibited in very limited release…….
http://laszloandvilmos.com/fests.html but, I didn’t think that anyone would catch my drift.

If this film hits anyone’s local cinema in town, it may be worth your while, as it is a GREAT story.
Here’s the cast, many of whom are interviewed……

Would it be possible if the studios offered both subtitle positions (selectable from the menu)? That way, people with the expensive stretch gear (forgot what that’s called) can see the subtitles when the image is stretched and pulled to fit their screen and the rest of us without the big bucks can see the subtitles sort of out of the way.

If you’re referring to Josh Z, I would say that he has been a “Good man for getting the numbers” from proponents who favor his personal choice.

I think Eternal_Sunshine has been a more robust lobbyist for ‘getting the word out’ to accumulate overall numbers from all participants, despite his obvious preference for Option #1 –

(Oh, Eternal_Sunshine, don’t take it personally that “Cochise” edited your post for “excessive linkage” as I was informed that during the days of the format war he once referred to me as “trailer trash” and criticized many of my ‘prophecies’ at least until they all came through, as there is some history there also with folks like Gizmodo).

My thanks goes out to my Girl Friday (Kelsey) for accumulating the background research on the above, whom I think sharkshark probably scared away from this thread with his last YouTube video clip.

Don't know if it's been posted here yet, but the Roger Deakins website (which was shut down a couple months ago due to an abusive poster) is back on-line:

http://www.rogerdeakins.com/

This is great news for fans of filmmaking everywhere!

I agree. More thoughts...

He doesnt want to be world champ after Rossi moves on. He wants to beat Rossi. If he goes to another bike, beats Rossi, then there is always the "what if" factor. If he stays on a Yamaha and beats Rossi, there is no dispute about the title or his abilities.

Stay, learn, learn to develop the bike. In a short time he will be able to have the championship and command the huge salary. Leaving now for money could hurt him in the long run. Factory Yamaha is what HRC used to be...the Rolls Royce of teams. Hell, if he plays his cards right, maybe he could even inherit Burgess.

I'm probably offending the option 2 guys, my way of thinking is that no one should lose out and what i liked about the HDD post was that they mentioned how theatrical releases don't suffer with this problem so the home theatre buffs shouldn't either.

oh don't get me wrong, Sony doing this is leaps and bounds better than the other studios and is GREATLY appreciated (i know my original post could be perceived as persecuting the guy trying to fix the problem).

I was mad as hell when Fox released Day/Night watch without the awesome comic subs (can't think of any WB subbed films off the top off my head) and hope that WB & Fox follow in these footsteps, in fact i hope Sony, WB & Fox work together to get problems like this sorted.

A quick question, why would Sony not want the option of movable subs? (Sorry if you've answered this already) I understand multiple sub steams would not be a favourable idea, but moveable would be perfect, no?

Thanks

PS i'm not a projector owner, yet.
