You know, I never watch this show but, someone passed this YouTube clip onto me that I can’t resist in sharing with others here, in case you’ve never heard the epitome of enthusiastic talent.

Simply, AMAZING.

I agree, she is terrific. After she wins AGT she can try out for American Idol. Simon Cowell is probably thinking kaching.

www.bvidiving.com

I leave sometime early December, pending other signing on (you come, I'll buy you a beer on board...)

The trip is planned by the day, but the Rhone is apparently an "always" destination...

kudos, Mr. Harris, for one of your not-as-famous restorations. Now, on behalf of Mr. Tomlin, when we gettin' LOA already?
Although kind words are always appreciated, the reconstruction of Abel Gance's Napoleon has been a multi-decade passion of UK archivist extraordinaire Kevin Brownlow. I merely helped to present it with Zoetrope.

not anyone with an "actual clue" as I remember, just conjecture of what an internet connection could bring (and not necessarily BD related). On the other hand how do you know who has an actual clue or not on the internet?

Looking at the thread I was thinking how it is a no win situation, and then this potential solution popped into my head.

Penton,
Is there any way you can ask your contacts at Sony why they decided to not include the original theatrical subtitles for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. If you are unfamiliar with the problem, please see here. Ultimately, my concern is with the translation being used. Sony seems to be using a new translation that is different from the one Ang Lee and James Schamus used for the theatrical showing. The theatrical translation is more fluid than the new translation and I was curious that with all the extra space on the BR, why they could not have included the original translation and the new translation. Ang Lee has actually said in the DVD commentary that he made painstaking efforts to make sure the subtitles were perfect, and I would like to see those subtitles present (as would others).

Thanks.

Looks sweeeet!
Shark, before you hang up your fins forever, might I suggest one other dive destination. Try to find a live-aboard diving vacation around the Society Islands (Tahiti– they parlez francais as well as English), as the sailing there combined with diving the underwater world is supreme. Since you are also a movie freak, you will appreciate the landscapes for movies like Mutiny on the Bounty.

Then hop a short flight over to Rangiroa atoll which has one of the largest (if not the largest? natural lagoon) in all of the Pacific and stay at the Kia Ora Village http://www.hotelkiaora.com/home.php or nearby Kia Ora Sauvage.

The atoll's lagoon was well known for years by marine biologists as a mating area for sharks....which are in abundance. In fact, I saw my first Tiger shark in open water in the Pacific outside the atoll just prior to shooting the Tiputa pass for a wild ride into the atoll’s lagoon with all the fishies.

The tech guy in charge of that title reads this thread regularly, so I really don’t have to approach him as you ask.
If he is interested in enlightening people about the whys and wherefores then I’m sure he will contact me concerning the specifics about it and I will most assuredly pass his words onto you.

Personally, I don’t want to muck up the waters (the poll/survey) with individual title queries as I think the Option #1 and Option #2ers are greater stakeholders in terms of possible policy/practice changes. In other words, I think you guys have bigger fish to fry.

Yup, got it on HD-DVD! (sorry, couldn't resist... )

The whole point of this trip was originally to go to Oz and dive the reef, but I bought a house, meaning the larger trip just wasn't in the cards this year. Still, this is a nice compromise to be sure, and I'll try for Oz next winter.

The Fiji diving looks spectacular... Craziest thing I ever heard about doing was from a rebreathing diver on the boat with me in Turks (he was cert'ing for deep rebreathing, going down to 350+ ft... super insane!)

Anyhoo, he had gone to Bikini Atol to dive =under= the battleships... I'll sadly never have the money to do such a trip, but as a Hollywood mogul I thought I'd pass the idea along to you...

Cute

BTW, still Rockin' a Laserdisc player in the rack, and I've actually got a Pioneer 8-track player that's a rack component (RCAs and everything) for amusement sake.

But the LD's a must have, if only for all those titles or exclusive materials available only on those big, shiny discs (like, say, the sensational, Kubrick-directed trailer for Stranglelove that Sony stupidly left off the disc and that I demand they put on as a BD-Live addition... grrr...)

Sometimes, you must admit, the film trumps the format. (*poke*, *poke*)
