Not “fighting”, more like 'encouraging' to get something done.
Othewise, no comment. |

![]() ^ ^ ^ ^ After watching the pre-game and first half in 3D at the Galen Center (which boasted three 40-foot screens with imagery displayed by six Sony 4k projectors) and some USC Song Girls ![]() we headed on over to the ESPN Zone at L.A. Live with our wives to watch the 2nd half action, viewing different ‘consumer type’ displays with active shutter as well as poloarized glasses (as required for each) but, I couldn’t find a YouTube of that venue which anyone has posted online yet. P.S. For those non-football types that are unaware the USC Song Girls don’t sing……….they dance! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewZ1i...eature=related Last edited by Penton-Man; 09-29-2009 at 05:06 AM. I hoping it's going to be in front of Toy Story this weekend, in 3D
I know the Pixar guys have wanted to make this movie forever, and I'm sure it's no coincidence that Lassetter took over and it shows up One of the most educational experience I ever had was watching The Last Starfighter with a bunch of 3D animators who worked on the Star Wars prequels, Spider Man and more, geeking out and marvelling at how they accomplished some of the imagery. Given that this guy is claiming they topped this, the 7000 simultaneous nerdgasms when they sprung this at Comic-Con may only be a taste ![]() |

So. Spies goes to Tech 3 in 2010.
![]() Every one of The Fabulous Fours contracts ends in 2010. Pedrosa is unhappy. Stoner is unhappy. Spies will be eligible for a factory seat. Rossi will be close to, or have beaten all of Ago's records by then. I excpect a super 2010 and an insane silly season one year from now. ![]() |

Studios and Consumer Electronics companies are working on new taglines, i.e. -
“Step into 3D”, “Immerse yourself into 3D”, etc. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8285187.stm |

"Step into another dimension" That was a phrase I heard quite often at Grateful Dead shows ![]() |

Besides, if the timeline is sometime next year, the "another dimension" idea would work well with a cross promotion of a 3D Blu-ray of Avatar. |

Not only do I see studios getting rid of those "experience high definition" tag lines on Blu-ray packaging, I think we'll also see most cable TV networks dropping the "HD" off the HD versions of their channels within the next year or so. I can do without the "perfect high definition experience" stuff plastered on the cover. It gobbles up space better used by the movie's own cover art. Of course, I would like movie posters and video packaging to be more original than the oh so common Photoshopped actors heads thing. The "high definition" buzzword is starting to become meaningless in the same fashion that "digital" has already long been worthless as a buzzword. Practically everything is "digital." Gotta get more specific for us to think something "digital" is special at all. Last edited by Bobby Henderson; 10-03-2009 at 12:49 AM. |

I’ll leave that up to others to reveal/leak, or the “official” announcement from the marketing dept. However, I am at liberty to generically comment upon *how the business works*. Hypothetically, if one were to have an industry screening at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater on a weekend in mid-August for Academy members which filled the auditorium, and if at the end of such screening, the motion picture received the most applause in years from such a screening. ![]() And if this hypothetical motion picture had even a remote chance at Oscar nominations for Best Visual Effects, Best Makeup, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, Best Film Editing………and perhaps even other categories. And if this hypothetical motion picture debuted theatrically in a release window from mid-August to the end of October, internationally. I think that many reasonable people would consider it to be a missed opportunity (both for the current feature as well as enticing the same cast [including the screenwriter, Director and Producer] for any sequel) not to ship out DVD screeners to Academy members no later than about 1 week before the nomination ballots are sent out……………… http://www.oscars.org/awards/academy...les/index.html Otherwise, a lot of good work by acquisitions people would have gone in vain. And, given the fact that Oscar DVD screeners already have a past history of been leaked/copied and quickly showing up on places like Bit******* - Why not just make the motion picture available (legally) to the public-at-large anyway in a Blu-ray edition around the same time? Hypothetically speaking, that is. Last edited by Penton-Man; 10-04-2009 at 06:24 PM. |

The good thing that has a lot of people running scared, and this last awards season SERIOUSLY reduced leakage is that the recipiants name is now encoded on the screeners invisibly and cannot be removed. If you leak it they will find you and you will literally pay the price. They can't do the same on Blu-rays yet however.
