As an aside, isn’t it amazing how many pies Martin Scorsese has had his fingers in, i.e. Woodstock, The Last Waltz.

Hardly, as I’ve openly walked among her entire pack (of 6 critters at the same time) with no problems at all for months………actually years now.

They are predators but, they are very noble creatures.
The coyotes that attacked in Canada most likely were suffering from some sort of illness as these creatures go out of their way normally to avoid adult human contact.

All this talk of calibration reminds me that I'm probably just over 200 hours on my Panny plasma- time to break out the Spears & Munsil disc and recalibrate!

I wish it was a little more price-competitive with DVE since I feel it's such a fantastic product. I'd like to see more people using it. Still, it was a worthwhile purchase.

That is so awesome- I've only seen glimpses of foxes and maybe a coyote or two when I was out in Kansas.

I received about 10 PM’s asking me for comments regarding this news story……
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=3624

I’ll answer you all at the same time with this –
Corporate has a history of considering/reacting to any complaints, be they legitimate or illegitimate and without merit. For instance, they read this thread regularly and discuss its postings openly (via memos) within the organization.

I believe it was a wise decision because a short term windfall is not worth stabbing a long term supporter (in this case, NATO) in the back.

...LW has my favourite commentary moment on any film ever, where Producer Irwin Winkler, the guy in charge of the film that Scorsese was SUPPOSED to be working on (NY, NY), shows up and says he's never seen the film, never will see the film, and is still pissed that it was ever made.

Awesome.

Similar nerdiness in another Scorsese commentary moment - Tuturro showing up for his 2 minute scene in Raging Bull, talking about getting his first real break, etc.

As studios far further away from the real value that some of these so-called "extras" hold (and others demand that they be abandoned), let's take a moment and remember some of those additional elements that truly take the collection of discs to a higher level.

oh, and for those that don't incessantly hit refresh on perhaps the most awe inspiring site on the 'net,

This Blu-ray may be flying under peoples’ radar since it doesn’t have any ‘big name Director’ and doesn’t contain any giant robots, shoot-outs, explosions, aliens, spaceships, provocative sexual encounters, etc. but, I think the motion picture shows that modern day filmmaking does not always require those themes and vfx to be of superb quality.

So, I feel comfortable in recommending it at least to you and Dennis, as I know you Torontonians are both thinkers and art lovers (http://www.sonycentre.ca/general_con...nav=the_future)

- that be Adoration (https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Adora...y-Review/6527/ )
and be sure not to miss the supplement entitled -

“Interview With Atom Egoyan” in which the Director deals with a multiplicity of topics ranging from the internet and its association with social interaction (and its direct relevance to the motion picture itself), why he decided to shoot the body of the motion picture on film rather than using digital cameras, etc.

you know, I think many would (lasciviously) prefer the one I saw this year:

Still, nice that young Atom is being treated right by the peeps at SPHE.

You guys.
I try to get seriously artsy-fartsy on this thread and you’ve only got one thing on your one-track minds!
Atom’s comments in the “Interview With Atom Egoyan” esp. dealing with internet chat rooms is very interesting for how it is relevant to the storytelling of the motion picture itself and I challenge anyone out there who watches this motion picture to tell me that they were one step ahead of the action as the story unveils itself.

Plus, like I said, the Director’s comments regarding his decision to shoot with film are interesting esp. given the fact that the days of shooting on film (at least for episodic television) are quickly coming to an end……with any hold-outs to that trend becoming the exception, rather than the rule.
o.k., since this is a multi-service thread, I’ll provide you with a clip that lasciviously specializes in feet and shoes……

They are perfectly fine for consumers but, they need more generational *seasoning* to be used as a reference monitor in a professional environment.

For instance, critical viewing reveals halo artifacts around small areas with high contrast on current displays I’ve seen (even 2nd generation) due to LED ‘local dimming’.

Just not ready for primetime in the professional environment.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll put it on my "must see" list.

In return, I suggest to you Revolutionary Road. Great writer, great story of 1950s lives of "quiet desperation", great acting, great direction, and great set decorator and set dresser. As a child of the late 1950s/early 1960s, I had to say they really nailed the atmosphere of that period, whether through the marching thousands of commuters or through the surround

This does bring me to one question:
Did they adjust the color timing of the outside shots to achieve a particular look? I remember that my father's old Ektachrome slides have a blue/green color warmth, particularly as the reds fade. Maybe the rest of the production put me in this nostalgic mood, but I seriously wondered.

And yes, I really enjoyed the two extras. One was interviews with family and friends about the life of author Richard Yates. The other was narrated deleted scenes. These were "second order", meaning they weren't deleted only because of time or not moving the story along, but half the time for reasons that were not immediately obvious. I enjoy these insights.

Definitely will check it out.

It's good to see Sony is support Theatre in Toronto. Actions like this really do go a long way in promoting the continued success of this art form.

Had the pleasure of seeing Madam Butterfly a couple of weeks ago.
http://www.coc.ca/PerformancesAndTic...Butterfly.aspx
It was a beautiful presentation of Puccini's opera.
Made all the better by being accompanied by a beautiful lady.

Now to completely destroy by credibility in the appreciation of fine art.
I know Shark is going to roast me for this one.

Please say thank you to the persons at Sony that decided to put Last Action Hero on the release schedule.

It's one of those film's that you either love, or hate. I fall in the love it category. Is it high cinema? Absolutely not. But whenever I watch it I can't stop smiling and laughing. It is just a fun film that makes you forget about everything that's going on in the world. Which, I think, is exactly what the producers were shooting for in the first place.

Well, just trying to contribute as it is well known that the Torontonians love their ARTS in any form imaginable -
