Today’s Trivia for film history buffs and other interested parties (think upcoming Blu-ray sourced from a new HD master derived from a new 4k datacine).

Who’s 90th birthday is tomorrow?
And how shall he be honored?

Perhaps with something like this?…

Didn't we already know about Harryhausen's box set avec J&TA? Not sure what else is being done to honour him, star on the so-called "walk of fame"?

Kleist probably already knows the answer so I’m not calling him in to bat for you folks.

Where are the old-timers like Robert George and RAH who used to go out before home theaters became in vogue. They should know this kind of thing.

You knew it all the time didn't you.

If you were local, I'd try to get you a pass to the reception.
Good Job.

For once I did, and thought that in the spirit of the thread it was only right that I post a cheeky response.

Mighty Generous, esp to someone who plays in here to learn. Thanks anyway!

It's cuz I've got Spain to win, and I really need Argentina to go forward as well. Plus, I kinda need Argentina to advance as I've got Messi as a scorer. So, no, I don't want to encourage you to support GER.

Then again, given how well your previous supporting has gone, maybe I'm over thinking it!

(I kid, I kid...)

I can't give you a hot fraulein to obsess over, but maybe this might help provide motivation:

ps. Remember, I need these guys to win it all... If "Donnycakes" doesn't rock your boat (and I'm certainly not criticizing if it does), there's always this:

Robert, what you say does indeed make sense if you darken only certain scenes or specific parts of a scene. However, what I experience when I compare different versions of a film (different media types, different countries) is that the whole film is darker. The Neverending Story U.S.-BD is only one example. Another example would be the UK-BD of "Dawn of the Dead", which I just purchased. The additional detail of the BD is almost lost because the whole film is darker than the U.S.-DVD version from Anchor bay. It's a matter of taste. I don't like dark scenes that play in daylight. Therefore the DVD is more valuable to me than the BD, which I will be selling again.

Geez Shark, it’s not like the German National team reads this thread for World Cup inspiration.

lol, I agree.

At first glance (I don’t stare at guys), I actually thought the dude was vomiting in a big bucket. I think I had a flashback from some frat party during my college days.

I was sent this clip by a 3D gamer dude to post in case people don’t watch Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (I think the 3D part of the experience is at the very end of the clip, sort of a 2D vs 3D comparison thing)…

This is something all you 3D aficionados might be interested in (and 3D skeptics for that matter). Eisuke T. (an excellent CTO) is doing a live video chat tomorrow. Check out the bottom right of this page…

b.t.w. to all 3D haters out there, 3D adoption really isn’t a concern. It’s a strategy, just like the introduction of the Blu-ray format but the applications are endless…

Thank you hanser.

She’s truly beautiful and the German National team has a stunning jersey, for that matter.
