This was a very authentic, and wonderfully human moment that really moved me.

If you know anyone involved in this decision, I hope you will pass on thanks to them for this wonderful moment of kindness.

Hi Pie - glad to have you aboard.
I remember you from the *other forum*.
Do you know we have a member here who goes by the handle........PeechCobblerPie ?
You're already among colleagues.
Seems like a lot of people on this forum are eating pie…….peach cobbler, blueberry, hair pie, etc.

Thanks for your time.
Yes, but me commenting about them would be analogous to paidgeek revealing unannounced Blu-ray titles. I already ventured pretty close to crossing the line just talking about the production of Across the Universe….after the fact.

Regarding theatrical presentations, it would be best for me to confine my comments to things like the advantages of 4K digital over 2K digital or 2K digital over your typical ole fashioned 35 mm. film projector.

Hot damn Deci,
I hope no managers from any Hotel Imperials around the world read this thread.

If so, the hanger was *complementary* from the concierge......amongst around *souvenirs* back in the days when I was single.

I'll say anything to keep you on this forum.

I'll try to think of at least one instance (real world viewing demonstration/test) to explain my blasphemy........and post it tomorrow or later on in the week.

In regards to digital theaters, what format do they use? My guess is it would have to be some hard drive or tape based media, probably of a highly proprietery nature. Anyway, I know 1080p is basiclly 2k, fixed at the 16:9 aspect ratio, and basically 4k is 4 times the resolution.

Do you think that studios will ever release their content at a 4k level or will that be so close to the master that they will not want that being distributed to the mass public? It seems like releasing a 4K format, despite any DRM that may be put on it (DRM will eventually be broken), is equivalent to releasing the source code for software. I don't think hollywood is anywhere near ready for that.

Penton,

I have a couple questions about the Oscars...

1) Do you know the reason behind why the majority of Oscar categories have 5 nominees, while three categories (Makeup, Visual Effects, and Animated Feature Film) only have 3, and one (Documentary (Short Subject)) has 4?

2) Jon Stewart joked about this after a commercial break, but I'm curious... What does go on during commercial breaks? Is there some kind of entertainment up on stage for those 2-4 minutes (stand up routines, musical performances, movie montages, etc..)? Do the attendees simply sit in their seats or do they get up and mill around, socializing with one another?

If it's like other live tapings I've been to, they just crank up some music and "talk amongst yaselves"

You already know the Yankees will win the World Series this year? That's the biggest - non political - disaster I can think of.

Spoken like a true traditional projectionist.

Geez, Deci, you’ve already got me worried and I haven’t even typed up any elaboration on my blasphemous comment on digital vs film projection.
Next thing is theLion will get on my ass.

How many former/current projectionists are on this forum, anyway?
I think I just placed myself in the crosshairs of some members.

Everyone runs to the restroom to see if Dennis Hopper still has some good stuff leftover.
Meanwhile, there are "seat warmers" (really, I’m not kidding you) that rush to fill the empty seats so, in case we all don’t make it back to our seats before the commercial break is over, it doesn’t appear that a lot of attendees are missing.

You always want that *full house* look for the TV audience.
