It could have a built in pizza maker and coffee machine topped with a swiss army knife but still no deal without that bluray drive!

I just got off the phone with Sony Support. I wanted to see if my Bravia KDL-HX800 would be able to access the '3D Experience'. Answer, yes, but not yet. They confirmed that it would also be available on the PS3, but not yet. It will also be available on internet connected Sony players. A '3D Experience coming soon' block does appear on my BDP-S570. I asked if the app is available on newly purchased 2011 Bravia internet connected TV's. Answer: Not yet. So, the news release apparently preceded the actual availability of this service.

Support was unable to provide any info on when the '3D Experience' would be available, but he did say it will be widely publicized when it is. Any Sony player or Bravia TV with access to Qriosity will be getting it.

Hi Penton-Man,

Today I first became aware about "Cinavia" that Sony may be using on Blu-ray? - Link to post. My only concern at this time would be the part about losing lossless audio to lossy even if the disc is encoded with lossless. Feedback if possible would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

It does not affect the playback of Dolby TrueHD or DTS MA.

Saw it a while back, and no sync issues at all.

I saw this yesterday and before purchasing my ticket they informed me there was an issue with the audio being out of sync. They said it was barely noticeable and took a full day for anyone to notice but that it apparently affected all theaters (not sure if this might be at all accurate).

The movie just started showing at this theater last Friday, and they couldn't say whether or not it would remain past this week nor when it would be fixed.. been a couple of days already apparently (they said they were waiting on a new print but it was a Sony Digital Cinema 4k theater), so I went ahead and saw it. It seemed like a couple of other people in line might have decided to see another movie based on the info.

Turns out the audio was off by 2-3 seconds starting around the

This is what Cinavia is intended to do and how it works.

Certainly does! While I'm wondering why it's getting such a quick reboot, the scenes that look like Spidey, himself, is filming appear to be amazing! I like that approach and hope that's in the movie, and not just trailer material.

I wish they would have continued the storyline where they left off instead of showing Spiderman's origin again. It was just too soon to do his origin and because of this I will probably wait for it on rental. The photography in the trailer looks fantastic and I am sure it will also look good in 3D.

Hmm... I don't know. I think the trailer may have actually cooled my interest a little bit. I'm not sure I like the look they're going for, but what really gets me is a feeling of "Didn't we just go through this?" because it's the origin story again, so soon after seeing Raimi's version. Intellectually, I wasn't really in the 'too soon' camp, but as soon as the trailer got going, I had a visceral reaction and the prospect of experiencing the story ahead started feeling like a daunting chore rather than an anticipated adventure.

I get a little panicky twinge from the secret "kept from you" voiceover, too. A suspicion that somebody felt the need to add an unnecessary twist. I hope that's just paranoia.

I'll definitely go check it out, unless the reviews are downright terrible, so we'll see.

Personally I think it looks awful (no offence to anyone who's worked on it Penton), like a rehashed video game, specifically Mirror's Edge. I don't want to disparage what's been done from a technical point, I just find it a bit hackneyed.

What's Spider-Man if not hackneyed? [insert pseudo-witty Peter Parker quip here]

Really like what I have seen so far. I am one of those that were not excited to see a reboot so soon, but I really like the "feel" of the film. Can't wait .

2k 3D DCPs will be projected at local 3D Multiplexes. There will most likely also be a 4k 2D DCP version available. ASM was shot with Red Epics...2.40 at *5k*.

For the record, top dog acquisition bragging rights in terms of both sensor resolution *8k* and dynamic range should now belong to the F65, as barriers have recently been broken in the field of engineering with the production of this new Sony camera. Concentrate on the paragraph by Curtis Clark ( Chair of the ASC Technology Committee http://www.theasc.com/ac_society/ind...Tech_Committee )

In which he says “"Expanded dynamic range from highlight to shadow—a minimum of 14 stops with the F65 and they are still testing that—in conjunction with tremendous low light level sensitivity without noise, wider gamut (than film print reproduction), along with true 4K spatial resolution. These exceed the benchmark references we normally associate with 35mm film.”
https://www.smpte.org/membership/smp...l_news_2011/#1

Or, perhaps an easier read for some old photochemical timers out there, this bolder headlined article highlights a pretty color gamut showing the diff between Print film, the F65 and visible light –
