For those sentimental types who would like to occasionally reminisce about a product which will eventually go bye-bye for good (heck, it already has in Norway…http://www.screendaily.com/news/digi...030136.article

Might I recommend this book to the history buffs out there…..http://www.makingkodakfilm.com/

As an alternative to those who don’t favor technical books/articles for their casual reading, might I suggest you folks wait a couple months; although, if you're really unable to, then follow the owl….unless of course you’re already a beta-tester/“thug from Culver City” for this fine offering -

Which reminds me….at least in regards to Technicolor and the first paragraph here, i.e. About the Program….http://www.amianet.org/events/theree...11/program.htm

As a short addendum to the above, might I just add that Technicolor Los Angeles started the complete restoration of A Trip to the Moon in 2010. Dem TCS boys do good work…..FAST.

Some people are easily amused. Guess it comes from being part of the cult/hive-mind.

Just like Apple "innovates" cloud storage, after places like Amazon have already implemented it.

Go on pretending things don't exist until Steve Jobs announces it and slaps an "i" in front of its name.

A satisfying small side benefit is that if something similar to the above looking prototype ultimately comes to market, then given the fact that blogger boys like Bill Hunt who enjoy regularly advertising the fact that current 3D glasses are “silly”…..this headset should really send them running and screaming around their houses in agony.
Looks interesting - since I owned an Atari Jaguar game console it brought back memories of Atari's VR concept.

What, exactly, do you want me to tell you? The time/date that blu-ray will stop being manufactured? I wish I could. Unlike you, who is so caught up in the possible future, I tend to look at past events to mold my thinking:

Laserdisc!

That was a niche market, much like blu-ray, and it lasted for over 20 years with other dominant forms of home video available.
You just talk so much, that you don't really listen to what others are trying to say. I answered many of your questions, I just think you didn't like those answers. Which tells me two things:
1) You're very close minded
2) You're delusional

Now that I've settled that...are there any more questions you'd like me to answer? Perhaps future winning lottery numbers, Superbowl winners(Eagles that was for free), when the End of Days will occur?

Also, I don't need to "insult" you...you do that well enough on your own.

White Russians use to be my favorite drink.

But then it became impossible to get one without someone making a Lebowski comment, every...single..time...I ordered one.

I tried to lie and say "oh it's a Kahlua and milk". But it didn't stop the comments.

So that was that for them being my favorite drink.

I have a love/hate relationship with Apple. I love my iPhone but hate not having access to flash supported pages. Lack of flash support has and will continue to keep me from purchasing an iPad too.

I think both devices are superior to their respective competitors products (I've tried most of them, especially the tablets).

Similiarly, I would at least consider a MacBook Pro if it had a bluray drive. Lack of an optical drive is a major step in the wrong direction for me personally.

I surf the crap out of mine and I literally have not missed Flash for a single solitary second. Lucky me, I guess.

Rick, Bluray dies. IPTV takes over cable and satellite. Apple takes over film rentals with 720 (in my opinion) fake HD. So you are saying that scenario could not happen in several years?

No true HD source for home cinema enthusiasts. The future, yes, but i think a lot of people would owe me an apology if things panned out like this.

Which would probably aid the cause of quality as the internet doesn't need to meet cable/satellite bandwidth requirements and it's much easier to update client-side decoders than legacy broadcaster hardware.

Apple's going 1080p in a couple months, anyway.

Doesn't sound like it could, no.

Besides, in "a few years", there will be cool stuff in our faces/on the horizon that hasn't hit the radar yet.

People who care about quality have always been a substantial-niche chunk of the entertainment audience. Unless you plan on rounding us all up and dropping us off a cliff, we'll continue to be around. As such, there's a pretty good wad of cash on the table for all the content providers to see. Take a look at the history of this industry (LD, for example, as Rick mentioned) and a deep breath with it, and you will see that there's really no call for gloom and doom. As long as we want good stuff, someone's going to make it for us because they want our money. Pretty solid.

I guess, if you believe that Apple only has gigabucks because Steve Jobs has magical mesmeric eyeballs, maybe supply and demand is a bit beyond your math.

Apple are only trialling 1080p by the way. Even then it is just a rumor. Apparently they are bringing out a HDTV next year with several built in speakers for surround sound.

And it's going to look like Netflix 1080p. Which is "in name only". The signal calls itself 1080p but it looks like high quality DVD.

Or artificially constraining supply to increase demand/price.

Apple's gigabucks prove a lot of fools and their money were parted. "Ooooh! Shiny!"

It is the people with strong views who get slaughtered. Quality counts for a lot with me. I have always preferred substance over style. bluray has both as we all know. As i have said many times before, the crucial thing will be if Sony supports bluray in their next Playstation. That will tell us all we need to know.
