Not exactly Apple related but, I promised you all another Book club recommendation when last I was here.
Yes, as there is indelible writing on the wall when now that …. “cats and dogs are sleeping together”- http://www.thewrap.com/movies/column...hnicolor-29358 For those sentimental types who would like to occasionally reminisce about a product which will eventually go bye-bye for good (heck, it already has in Norway…http://www.screendaily.com/news/digi...030136.article Might I recommend this book to the history buffs out there…..http://www.makingkodakfilm.com/ rather than this progressive looking-forward article….http://www.hdvideopro.com/technology...g-up-aces.html As an alternative ![]() ![]() |

Just like Apple "innovates" cloud storage, after places like Amazon have already implemented it. Go on pretending things don't exist until Steve Jobs announces it and slaps an "i" in front of its name. Last edited by PeterTHX; 08-01-2011 at 06:48 PM. |

I, in a somewhat similar fashion to you and sharkshark also like The Big Lebowski ( just not as much as Animal House ) and I’ve thought of another oral supplement while viewing TBL too….which I gather from quickly skimming the official review, is more of a minor inconvenience to my liver and brain cells than is Animal House. The Big Lebowski viewing supplement being a -
And in case some of you viewers couldn’t concentrate on the recipe offered above because you were too distracted by her cleavage or the phone ringing in the background...then, in the spirit of the seriousness of The Big Lebowski, this is probably the more proper way to make and imbibe said mixed drink….with the only distracting thing in the How To clip being the narrator’s hair ![]() b.t.w., if any fanatical TBL fans are looking to relocate to Venice....California, that is - http://joshmadison.com/2011/07/27/th...ouse-for-sale/ Last edited by Penton-Man; 08-01-2011 at 06:49 PM. |

Laserdisc! That was a niche market, much like blu-ray, and it lasted for over 20 years with other dominant forms of home video available. You just talk so much, that you don't really listen to what others are trying to say. I answered many of your questions, I just think you didn't like those answers. Which tells me two things: 1) You're very close minded 2) You're delusional Now that I've settled that...are there any more questions you'd like me to answer? Perhaps future winning lottery numbers, Superbowl winners(Eagles that was for free), when the End of Days will occur? Also, I don't need to "insult" you...you do that well enough on your own. |

White Russians use to be my favorite drink.
But then it became impossible to get one without someone making a Lebowski comment, every...single..time...I ordered one. I tried to lie and say "oh it's a Kahlua and milk". But it didn't stop the comments. So that was that for them being my favorite drink. |

I have a love/hate relationship with Apple. I love my iPhone but hate not having access to flash supported pages. Lack of flash support has and will continue to keep me from purchasing an iPad too.
I think both devices are superior to their respective competitors products (I've tried most of them, especially the tablets). Similiarly, I would at least consider a MacBook Pro if it had a bluray drive. Lack of an optical drive is a major step in the wrong direction for me personally. |

Rick, Bluray dies. IPTV takes over cable and satellite. Apple takes over film rentals with 720 (in my opinion) fake HD. So you are saying that scenario could not happen in several years?
No true HD source for home cinema enthusiasts. The future, yes, but i think a lot of people would owe me an apology if things panned out like this. |

On what premise?
Which would probably aid the cause of quality as the internet doesn't need to meet cable/satellite bandwidth requirements and it's much easier to update client-side decoders than legacy broadcaster hardware. Quote:

Besides, in "a few years", there will be cool stuff in our faces/on the horizon that hasn't hit the radar yet. People who care about quality have always been a substantial-niche chunk of the entertainment audience. Unless you plan on rounding us all up and dropping us off a cliff, we'll continue to be around. As such, there's a pretty good wad of cash on the table for all the content providers to see. Take a look at the history of this industry (LD, for example, as Rick mentioned) and a deep breath with it, and you will see that there's really no call for gloom and doom. As long as we want good stuff, someone's going to make it for us because they want our money. Pretty solid. I guess, if you believe that Apple only has gigabucks because Steve Jobs has magical mesmeric eyeballs, maybe supply and demand is a bit beyond your math. ![]() |

Steve Jobs' dream. One less competitor for iTunes and showing how crummy "Apple 1080p" is in comparison with true high-bandwidth 1080p/24 and lossless audio.

It is the people with strong views who get slaughtered. Quality counts for a lot with me. I have always preferred substance over style. bluray has both as we all know. As i have said many times before, the crucial thing will be if Sony supports bluray in their next Playstation. That will tell us all we need to know.
