Pre-SW:TPM, thought of picking up a pair.

Happy to have you PM me to say you've got a line on a cheap pair
First of all, far be it from me to tell people how to spend their discretionary income, be it 3D glasses, or what studio or content provider or Blu-ray movie to support or boycott, etc.….just too pompous for how I roll. I prefer to offer facts and have you guys make up your own minds based upon what ingredients contribute to your own personal purchasing decisions on whatever the product might be.

Sent PM wrt 2 RealD-certified brands showcasing different models having wide pricepoints and various styles to choose from. If it were me, and I was spending my own money (which I try to avoid as often as possible) for designer 3D glasses, then I would probably go for a pair of dual purpose (RealD theatrical movie viewing and also able to be used as quality outdoor sunglasses) 3D glasses.

If RealD-certified glasses are of questionable value to you, then PM me back and I can offer an extremely economical 3D glasses solution in that case.

It had been changed to a digital matte painting and then, recently, back again. I expect the reversion was at Spielberg's insistence and will likely stay for future incarnations.

Doc, I missed the whole Cesc F. transfer thing and always wondered about the true back-story on the matter….at least the version from one of the active participants like Arsene or Cesc. In case you and/or sharkshark, Dennis or other Arsenal supporters weren’t aware of the Christmas Day interview–

http://www.skysports.com/skysportsne...388394,00.html

*It gets better and more candid toward the end of the clip.

I hadn't heard of that, and it's not here:

You have a source? Would be interested to see what he did/undid....

It was in a broadcast of the older HD master. There's a YouTube comparison out there.

The new master is the original FX shot.

Yeah, it's the original, as per above (terrible) Vid. For some reason I googled, but didn't search Youtube. Duh...

Peter, you've seen it already?

If it looks half as good as the projection I just saw (and am seeing again - http://tiff.net/filmsandschedules/ti...012/3300001481) then y'all will be happy.

Meanwhile, I just bought a laptop w/ 3D Blu Ray. I feel dirty.

Hey Penton...I was at the game From our seats (nosebleed), it actually looked more like a baby shark. But what the heck, if the Red Wings can throw squid, then why can't we thrown some dead mallards

So, who are the true Hollywood movie stars (when one examines the list of the Top 20 Highest Grossing Films), the 'talent' (actors)…or the geeks, in this case, the VFX geeks?
See….http://www.tvtechnology.com/article/...d-stars/211050
^ “Ross sees a growing demand for superstar special effects artists with some top visual effects supervisors already earning upwards of $1 million per year.”

Any young geeks out there interested in a Hollywood motion picture related career?

I can tell you that for motion pictures which contain a great deal of VFX (i.e. virtual set extension, matte painting, CGI), posting a 4k DI in contrast to working with HD or 2k acquired images is quite a delight for VFX folks. This is due to the fact that not only will keying a 4k plate (instead of a 2k plate) yield a far better appearing result (especially when softly zooming into scenes) but, it is also easier (i.e. faster, which means less expensive) than working in lower resolution, as long as the facility has a workflow with adequate render power.

If I’m unable to check back in for awhile, then I wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Have a safe & happy new year P-man!
I'll be glued to the Winter Classic! Which is going to go against my upcoming NY resolution: STOP being a fan of Philly teams!

I almost went...wish I would have. Compared to the Fenway event 2yrs ago, this one looked much better. Well I have to give props to the B-1 stealth bomber fly over at the Boston event...that was amazing! I can't believe it was the lowest rated Winter Classic of the five?? Oh well, as a Philly fan it's not like I'm used to actually...ya know...winning anything!
