Saw new trailer today for SM and I think it is great. Really details that the movie is a new story and not a retelling of the prior SM movie. Anyways, if you guys have a successful year, maybe we will see a lot more catalog titles released?

For those not following, scroll down to ‘the family Deschanel’ photo….http://www.cinematographers.nl/Pagin.../deschanel.htm

P.S.
btw, I see that notification of Caleb’s speaking appearance hasn’t yet made it onto the NAB website respective page... http://www.nabshow.com/2012/educatio...ter-series.asp
Oh well, be patient folks, it eventually should get listed in due course. Meanwhile, notice that Curtis Clark, ASC. (bottom right photo) is already shown. Hmm, I wonder what he will be presenting. Could be some new footage shot with the F65?

Indeterminate at this time. All I can say is that successes from high-profile movies like The Amazing Spider-Man which are expected to make millions worldwide help fund a variety of lower scale projects as well as little things, like new tools, such as…http://postproduction.digitalmediane...pgrade-1938961, which not only allow one to stay at the cutting edge of post production technology; but also; help to facilitate another income earner in the studio ecosystem, i.e. Sony Colorworks.

That’s why it sometimes hurts me to read posters bash a certain tentpole or franchise reboot because, like ‘em or not, they are the bread and butter that help make other things *happen*…which ultimately indeed may coincide with some individual consumer interests totally unrelated to the tentpole.

Anyway, how much of that trickledown effect gets to Blu-ray catalog remains to be seen.

P.S.
You’ve got a fancy handle.

Penton,
Are you plugging Wrath of the Titans?? I would think that sort of shamless plugging of the "other guy's" movie is frowned upon!

Nope,

Personal plugging an actor who owns a display of the same model and year as me and who starred in a movie which was based on a location just a tad south of you, which also had a killer soundtrack...

We only bash because we love them and want them to be better, so we can bestow massive repeat attendance upon them and, thus, fund the smaller, subservient projects up to their eyeballs.

I don't mind system reboots when needed. But for Spiderman I just feel it was way to soon since the Spiderman origin that was done several years ago was done very well. I just wish the series would have continued with the different actors and a new plot. I am in no mood to sit through a reboot of something that was already done very well.

I realize it will be in 3D with a lot of new special effects but a new plot would have made this a must see for me. It will be interesting to see how well it will be received.

While it's an origin story again, it looks like it will be a new plot.

I like the looks of it. For one, I'm happy to see Spider-Man with NON-organic web-shooters and yukking it up while fighting crime, and I'm enjoying seeing the Stacy family on screen (Spider-Man 3 doesn't count)... and The Lizard should be fun.

The only thing I don't like is where they might be going with the parent's sub-plot.

At least 45 to 60 minutes of the movie has to cover the same plot about Peter Parker being bitten by a spider and his how he turns into Spiderman. This time could have been used covering new material.

When you have a reboot of a movie, you often HAVE to retell the origin. Add in the fact that Sam Raimi's film did not adhere 100% to the source material (nor does the new one apparently, though closer), and that the first one will soon be 10 years old, and it's kind of a necessity.

It should be NO secret that Spider-Man was bitten by a spider. However, for the sake of those who are not familiar with the character, we shall refrain from discussing the TYPE of spider.

The 10-year age of the first film would not be an issue had they followed the original plan to make a fourth movie in the series, rather than a "re-boot" of unprecedented temporal-proximity to the original.

Sure...

However, I personally would have done the reboot had I been in charge...

Hey Penton, has Sony been considering / experimenting with Blu-ray only releases? It seems the recently released The Skin I Live In has just one SKU, a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack in a Blu-ray case. I've checked the usual haunts and can't find a trace of a DVD-only SKU. Wondering if this is a conscious decision by Sony, or simply an oversight.

How do some inside Hollywood view the reason by the MPAA to not consider reducing the "R" rating from "Bully", a film which hundreds of thousands of people have pleaded/petitioned them to give a lower rating to allow the audience who will most benefit from the movie to see it, while a movie where 24 kids fight to the death is rated PG-13?

When a movie is released unrated, as Weinstein have opted to do with Bully, is it at the discretion of the theater to allow people in or does unrated mean anyone can go?
