I still subscribe to the AVS insider's thread for kicks, and I got an e-mail notification of someone asking the insiders about a similar "Warner is going HD DVD exclusive" post over there, but both it and the question on the Insider's Thread are already gone.

No it has nothing to so with a movie it's about a photo shot for blu-ray which she might do I turn it down.

It really is all a matter of timing now, BB will come with the Dark Knight, the Matrix some time close to Xmas, and the classics are back on the roster last I heard because sales of Blade Runner and Close Encounters were so good on Blu-ray showing that the segment for classic movies is mature enough on Blu to warrant a release.
Christmas 2008 Why the hell is there such a long wait for such a big title. Unless they are going to use BD software instead of the HD-DVD stuff.

That's just a minor problem and there are ways to handle rating and restriction of content. User driven content is the only way a disc's online content is going to have value years after it first came out. It's also not "marginal value" - look at something like World of Warcraft, with 9 million subscribers they're raking in over $120 million a month. With movies the studios have a much larger potential customer base and thus have a much larger earning potential. Things like trailers and IMDB access isn't going to do it. You need a long term strategy that's going to interest people enough to pay for it.

Is it correct to assume these will not just be ported but new encodes?, hopefully with more features as well. The Dark Knight won't come out before October so BB will have been on HDDVD for almost 2 years and the Matrix for 1.5.

I seriously hope that Batman Begins comes with the theatrical release of The Dark Knight (July), and not the BD release of The Dark Knight (I'm guessing late Oct early Nov 2008). I speak for all in saying that I am so f*cking tired of waiting for Batman Begins to hit Blu-Ray. I mean, seriously, if you have any contacts at Warner, please help us out here. It's assinine we're still waiting for this.

That's good news. Thanks Max!!! I still don't get why WB would go with HD DVD, but that's just me and is for another thread.

For some reason unknown too me, I had posted a question in this thread last night, page 52, simply asking about a meeting between Toshiba, M$, WB, and some other group this past Friday. It was deleted. How come?

I hadn't heard anything on this and was just curious. Didn't mean to anger anyone or post it in the wrong section. Just thought an insider would have something more about it than what I only heard in passing.

The timing thing is significant here because didn't Jeff Bewkes take over WB CEO today (January 01). Which would mean that one of the "cogs" is now in place to make these releases happen. And he has a full week before CES to put those announcements together. It definitely is promising!

Paid, Is there any chance of the two new Harryhausen titles (Earth vs. Flying Saucers and It Came from Outer Space) being released on Blu-ray? 20 Million Miles to Earth was great and hopefully sold a respectable number of copies.

I will have to check on this for official confirmation, but who is your source?
There's a thread on AVS about it.
