I think that Combos will go the way of the Do Do bird; with the possible exception of Toshiba later coming out with a money losing Combo as part of their "penance".
He meant combo players, not disks.

Yep. But I still think a good 1.1 profile + HD DVD combo should sell at least among the HD DVD fans with 20+ movies. Good way for Toshiba to save face with their fans, I think.

Default The Goal: Only One High Definition format: Blu-ray !!!

This was an intense and sometimes bitter battle, but the BDA held the course, stayed focused, dealt honorably throughout all this, yielding an emminant victory, something that the HD DVD camp cannot claim. Even their desperate moves - the $ 99.00 hardware fire sale, though selling 190,000 player in one day or weekend - had little impact, and alienated any other manufacturer considering entering into the HD DVD player market, the payoff to Paramount, yet for only an 18 month agreement. All the efforts proved vain, and now at this juncture, with Warner Bros. going exclusively Blu-ray, will tip the scales of softwares production to 85 Plus % Blu-ray. We are at the end game. All that is left is the transition. Soon the Mass Merchants will stock only Blu-ray Players and Software. Do we need panic or paranoia? Absolutely not. Simply rejoice, especially if you were one who honorably fought the good fight. I am pleased for all future consumers, that they will be enjoying a single High Definition entertainment format, called Blu-ray. Enjoy the moment !

Default Congrats to the BDA

Insiders,

Congratulations are in order. We all thank you for putting in OT to get this all wrapped up.

Penton:

In your hair-stylist post you mentioned two individuals.... one for a color change and one for a highlight. Was WB the color change or highlight?

Also, when will we find out about the other "lady"? Will it be during CES or in the months after (though I'm not sure you can answer this).

Can you at least confirm that there is one more "lady" getting some blu in her hair?

^^ Any insider comments on this and possible ramifications? This site I linked to is HD-DVD biased and they're even admitting that it looks like a white flag may just go up at CES and end this thing outright.

I interpreted the "new" customer as being the new Warner CEO going Blu. The lady getting the highlights could be interpreted as meaning one red studio going neutral or simply meaningless banter setting up the cryptic clue.

HD-DVD was already on life support, only being kept alive by Toshiba and M$ losing money hand over fist trying to keep its heart beating long enough to confuse and frustrate consumers. Hopefully Warner's decision will finally pull the plug, let the corpse rest in peace and allow customers to finally upgrade confident that the format they are buying will be around next year.

I think everybody is forgetting to thank me. Yes I am aware I am not an insider but I kept Penton coming back to the site once or twice a day to see if I had posted new pic thus answering your questions.

So I think I should be included in the thank you's that are flying around.

Could I have tipped the scales had I bought an hd dvd player??? Makes you wonder. lol If they do make a movie about this format war I better damn well be included.

Rumors are fox was flirting with hd exclusivity/neutraility. How close did Fox come to changing sides?

Thanks

Edit: Changing "reports" to "rumors"

Actually I feel bad for them and even some of they're nice members have turned sour in the last 24 hours. I believe they are going through the stages of denial and there is no doubt they have hit the anger part.

It's really sad to see how Bill Gates lead them to them down the path of hd dvd, they still insist Microcrap will pull some miracle out of they're as-.

One thing is for sure they all have dead formats and Bill Gates could care less he will just move on to the next project which I guarantee you will be flawed and is not better for the consumer just better for Microcrap!!!!!
