Back on track.

The one aspect of CES that I found disappointing was the lack of title announcements from any studio with the exception of Fox.

Many of us were hoping to get release dates on the Warner catch up titles.

When can we expect to get some release dates?

respectfully, whether you, me, or whomever want him here or not should not be relevant. This trend of banning people because they are not liked, or said something bad about an insider, or accused of "spreading fud" needs to stop.

He has a history here as a troublemaker, and you want him back. Whatever.

Not a lot to report other than that...

FormatWarCental points to news on that... though no dates. I guess we will get them when they are ready to go...

I wouldn't be surprised if they are sometime after May, when they are Blu-exclusive!

I agree with WickyWoo, now that I thought about it more, DV should not be allowed back, I just had a gut feeling that it would just cause all sorts of havoc. Let him stay on HDD or wherever he is worshipped.

Honestly, I was hoping Warner Bros. would release their "catch-up" titles before June, thereby filling out their first and second quarter release schedule while not providing any additional "ammunition" to HD DVD.

I plan on confining myself to posting on this forum pretty much exclusively…..when I’m not watching Blu-ray movies.
The above gesture was just to help out some old friends whose original manufacturer’s warranty was expiring this month.

Lots of talk about whether to allow DV back onto bluray.com

IMO, it should be up to Penton-Man to decide as it was him who DV seemed to fall out with originally. I have noticed that DV has been making overtures of peace to Penton-Man over on the AVS forum which can only be a good thing.

I understand that this may be seen as a cynical ploy by DV now that the red ship is sinking, but it also may not be. I think it would be a good idea on DV's part to acknowledge that he has been slightly on the Red side of neutral (even if it was only passively) as DV's claims of neutrality in-light of some of what he has posted in the past I think is what wrankles most with the average bluray.com reader.

Of course we should not presume that DV would want to come back here in the first place....

I WANT BILL HUNT HERE THOUGH

There ya go, we don't need DV here. But Bill Hunt would be awesome if he popped in once in a while to give thoughts/comments.

With all the debate about DV you'd think he was someone really special.

He's a movie reviewer with a few sources here and there that feed him stuff. It's not worth talking for 2 pages over in the Insiders thread. Whether he's allowed here or not really shouldn't be much of a concern to anyone... he's not an insider by definition, regardless of what AVS thinks. If he wants to come play here as a normal member, who cares -- that's not worth debating. Whether he should be allowed to be an insider here is also not worth debating, as he simply can't be... forget the fact that his previous actions would make that silly, but he's simply not an insider.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks it necessary to chime in on this (I feel bad doing it myself). This is a forum, not some exclusive club where we vote on people... certainly not for 2+ pages.

End the DV talk like Wicky requested. (if this post gets purged, I won't feel bad)

More on topic:

This kind of got lost in the DV talk, so I don't think it hurts to repeat it...

Many of us were expecting a bunch of title announcements (much like last CES where we got a taste of dozens of titles to come), but we got almost no new announcements -- 95% of the titles announced were already announced individually beforehand (if you look HDD's release list almost all the titles were already there).

Can we expect some new announcements for this quarter coming over the next few weeks, or is the slate pretty much filled?

It's still early in Q1. And only one week after Warner announced. Such things need to be scheduled, authored, replication capacity booked, etc.

The people that do such things were almost certainly not in the loop about the Warner decision. Too many chances for leaks otherwise.

Question to insiders,
The hints were that there would be retailer movement at CES. Has Toshiba paid to slow that down or is it still immenent(emminent sp?)? With their statements that the retailers were supportive and all I figured you all would have the real story(as much as you can divulge).
Thanks
Dug

Understood. I am merely putting it out there as a suggestion. It is a pretty damn good one too, if I do say so myself.
