Guys, Warner is not going to make light of mistakes like that - not only do they know how it's hurting their image among the customers, but it's also COSTING them money to fix it. They're not going to sabotage their own releases, and as with any company they'll go through what went wrong and try to prevent it happening again. Stop thinking format war for a second and think "business."

If anyone from WB is reading this, I would at least like to thank them for being so swift in handling the problems. Disney took much longer to fix the framing mistake in PoTC - here we've seen news posts about Warner setting up replacements a day or two after we find out something's wrong. The Blade Runner supply issue is going to take a bit longer to fix, but you can bet they're working on it too.

My Bladerunner order just shipped from Amazon, and I'll probably get T3 for Xmas; I'd also like to thank WB for their swift resolution of the problem with T3, and for getting as many copies of BR out as possible.

Only thing that worries me is that WB seems to be doing its HD DVD production internally, where they can have an eye on Q&A.
I fear that them outsourcing their BD production is being a logistical nightmare, and maybe even the source of their current problems with HP/ BR / T3.

Penton, any word if that could affect their "feelings" (hoping that they are indeed feeling "Blu" right now ) toward BR ?
This being said I was amazed (as in pleasantly surprised) by how fast they reacted to correct the problems.

Got a source/link for the outsourcing comment? Last thing I heard (in this very thread even) was that Warner was doing everything in-house, both HD and BD.

No no. Only me worrying
If it's all in-house .. then .. I don't know.

Question to insiders regarding standalones. Will their be any 5 disc changers or multi disc players out in 08? I work retail and its a common question, I say probably, but I was wondering if anyone has a little more insight. Thanks

I'm also very impressed with Warner's swift handling of their current problems. As Frode said, they reacted promptly and honorably, and whatever happens with their 2008 release policy, they've earned a big plus from me.

Hope this is only the holiday season madness at work, and we never see these kinds of problems again.

Cheers, Warner!

That'd be Paramount/Dreamworks.
Sux.
Maybe Tim Burton will pull a Spielberg.

Looks like that one is Warner outside the US though. Kind of like Beowulf.

To any insider that looks into bringing in new studios,

Could somebody please attempt to contact First Look Studios (http://www.firstlookstudios.com/about.aspx ) about them releasing UFC - The best of 2007 ( http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/1299/..._best2007.html )only on HD-DVD. Does any insider know the status of this studios exclusivity?

Thank you so much!!!
A Die Hard UFC fan

On a side note: It looks like Mr. Wilson is the guy to talk to:

Quote:
In his new position, Wilson will be responsible for the marketing, sale, acquisition and distribution of First Look’s product lines, which include First Look’s film acquisitions, its existing catalogue of over 1000 titles, and exclusive distribution properties such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Video Asia and Big Vision

Vaughn is an idiot.

Go ahead and post this pic there and ask him whether he thinks over 100,000 copies difference between "300" on Blu-ray and "300" on HD DVD is a "coin flip"

The man is a paid shill, plain and simple. He has been bought.

That is the impression I have had of the guy since he made his infamous appearance on here a couple months back. Another "fake" neutral person. I hate that almost as much as the extreme red ants like rdjam.

I can’t follow his flip-flopping timeline predictions from week to week (nor do I care to unless somebody PM’s me links like this to laugh about and pass around the office)-- so how the hell do you expect me to follow his numbers?

There is no replication problem.
I don’t know why there is a delay in getting copies to retailers.
I can't make a phone call about something that is really none of my business.

Well that is good to hear. My guess is that the shipping companies are just overloaded more than even normal for this time of year. And some shipments got delayed in getting to where they need to go.
