That's good to know. I assume that means Warner and perhaps includes other hitherto short-sighted studios too. Thanks.

As for the various pie in the sky, Blu-rays doomed theories, we've had 18 months of these, EVERY one has been debunked time and again, are we meant to take these guys seriously, AGAIN! I wouldn't mind, but these very same guys then go on to lambast, and try to discredit, true insiders! I particularly like how they claim BD exclusive studios HAVE to go dual format, even exclusive to HD-DVD, due to astronomical BD50 costs, but Universal and Paramount have no need to take a chunk of the larger BD pie, and are quite happy to absorb the costs of what are likely to be expensive TL51's, that's if they even hit the market! You couldn't make it up. Last edited by JAGUAR1977; 12-24-2007 at 01:04 PM. |

With the crap xboxboi and GizmoDVD tried to pull last night, more like a mental institution.
![]() I have never seen grown men act so much like a group of schoolgirls in my life. I remember back a few months ago the reaction here to the Warner rumor. Nothing like what was expected, I'm sure it was a big letdown to Lee and his "informer". Now you have an almost idiotic rumor, basically everyone but Sony going Red. And with the benefit of hindsight the HD DVD fanboys are wetting themselves with anticipation. It's going to be fun to watch the carnage. ![]() |

Kelly's Heroes....heh. They kept the gold from the Red Army too ya know. Warner still own distribution on it, right?

Just to adress this, not as an insider but with logic, let's think just 2 seconds about this (which is about all the time this FUD requires us to pause about): 1) Not only Is Newline going where WB is going, but they have already chosen Blu Ray for limited exclusives due to its protection vs International release dates and international ditributors. Going Red = making no sense 2) Disney is a staunch Blu Ray supporter, more so even than Sony at times. They are working on applying BD+ to protect their titles, and they invested hugely on the format (cf the Blu Tour). All their directors speak highly of Blu Ray. The one thing that is fueling made up rumors on HD DVD boards is them voting yes on the TL-51, but that is putting aside a few things. Disney rarely abstains from votes at the DVD forums. Disney will vote for issues susceptible to affect them. And the existence of a 51gb format, in case (improbable, but who knows) HD DVD wins definitely affects them. 3) Warner already has pledged its suport to Blu Ray through 08, and is seeing a majority of its releases doing better on Blu Ray when compared to HD DVD. So .. going red makes little if no sense at all. Also the inexistence of zones and BD+ on HD DVD hurts their local sales too in theatres and local retailers(outside the US). All FUD. Is this how it is playing out, or is it more like Warner will go wherever Time Warner tells them to go, and so will New Line? The reports last time were that Warner's move to neutral was precipitated by a recommendation from Jeffrey Bewkes of Time Warner to the current CEO of Time Warner (Parsons). Since Jeffrey Bewkes will be moving into the CEO position on January 1st, I would expect he and Parson (as Chairman of the Board) to have the final say for both studios, with of course both studios being involved in the process. It doesn't seem like either studio could move without Bewkes approval.
