It’s not a movie, it should be an Easter Egg appearing on some Blu-ray discs in several months, see ……………..

Speaking of that ^ (weakness), Esox this concerns your previous query to me several posts back because I admit I fell in love with the *latina* Catherine Zeta-Jones in Mask of Zorro.

I’ll try to find out for you once the chaos during the first part of this year subsides and give you a heads-up…..with a “vigorous” hint.

I’ve got to call him today and wish him a Happy Blu Year as I haven’t spoken to him in quite awhile now. I’ll see when he’s planning on getting back here to post….my fingers are getting tired of typing.

And a special thanks to Maxpower for carrying a lot of the load here.

And I forgot last night in my rush to get out to a New Year’s Eve par-tay so………

Happy New Year to all our soldiers and marines fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan……and all those *special* people in other places. Here’s hoping that you have a safe New Year and get your butts back to the U.S. (and esp. Coronado) as soon as possible.

Later folks.

thanks MP for the update on the timing of these great WB movies. I am most pleased to hear the classics like Casablanca and Forbidden Planet have most likely been put back into the release pipeline. Now given the news that HD DVD folks had a meeting with WB, can we assume that you knowledge about these releases coming to blu-ray means that things fell through?

mask of zorro is warner, im pretty sure. that can't really be a bad sign out of penton.

the high bitrates finding is a nice thing too.

Is this a hint we'll be seeing a certain Charlie Sheen movie soon or are you just a fan of the teams?

P man.. MY man.. quick question. If you cannot answer I understand. I cant figure out how to word the question so you can answer so I will just ask and let you figure out how to answer if you can at all.

I was at Best Buy today in Midland Texas. They have always had a 2:2 split for HD DVD/Blu media. I couldnt believe my eyes. They have 5:2 in favor of blu now. Damn near a whole isle is Blu and HD DVD has two little shelves near the end of the isle in the back of the store. All of the HDTVs were playing promos for Blu Ray (never ran anything for HD DVD that I saw).

That was weird enough but when I went to Circuit City they moved to 3:1 HD DVD over Blu. They favored blu 4:2 in the past.

My question is does this have anything to do with the hints regarding retailers or is this still a regional thing at this point? There was SOOO many blu adverts in Best Buy and not one HD DVD. It seemed like more than just one store owner stocking one over the other (even the small section HD DVD had was crammed full of movies, didnt look like one had sold in a month were as Blu was picked through) .

Oh, forgot, for MaxPower. I am sure this has been asked before (if not SHAME on you guys for not making the connection) but does your name have ANYTHING to do with your job/affiliation or is it just a personal preference sort of thing. It seems to link you to a certain company that I would be happy to mention if you want me to say. If your name means what I think then I am a big fan of your work.

Max, if this last sentence becomes a reality (i.e. they are considering it), then you cannot imagine how happy I am/will be (and I suspect many other BD owners will be as well). I mean...a high bit rate VC-1 encode and, I know this is going to sound greedy , 24 bit-depth LPCM or Dolby TrueHD...OH MY GOD, I will personally send Ron Sanders (or whomever you tell me made this decision) some sort of fruit basket or cookies-to-order kind of thing. Really, it would make all the waiting for Batman Begins worth it and would make my 2008 as far as BD releases are concerned (and I'm saying this on Jan 1!!!! LOL).

Max, I believe this is confirmed. There are a few discussions going on around this here and at AVS. Now, my question back to you is, "what are they testing?" and is there anything we Blu-Ray owners can do to "help" this test be successful? Or is this an "internal test" at WB/NL regarding transparency, etc.

That makes two of us!!! Though I suspect there's probably a lot more like us.

Ok, thanks. Don't get in "trouble" though. I wouldn't want paidgeek to have to put the smack down on your @ss. But anything you find out and which could be communicated would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I will check anyway, just to make sure because it looks like this was done with the PS3 bitrate meter which is notoriously unreliable.

It is basically an internal test, WB will gauge consumer response on places like here and AVS. If you liked Shoot 'Em up, then buy it, if you didn't then don't waste your money, their targets aren't based on sales.
Well for Warner / New Line if they are watching and reading: I just bought Shoot 'Em Up on Blu-ray earlier today and thought it had an outstanding picture. Top notch which I appreciate!

The latter.
Esp. because I feel that I owe a couple of them.
As every time I see them run on a certain beach down Coronado way (when they’re in town), I intentionally sic my dog (the domesticated one – not Maya the coyote) after them so that they keep the pace up (they run in heavy combat boots).

I told you not to tempt me with challenges.
For the record, I think I could put the smack down on paidgeek’s @ss anytime, anywhere.
He could easily do the same to the A-man’s skinny @ss probably without even breaking a sweat.
On the other hand, I’m glad Stephen Nickerson is no longer in the picture as all he would have to do is probably trip and fall over and squash any of us like a pancake if he fell dead center.

Geez, the testosterone is runnin in me today.
It must have been triggered by the post above.

Regarding the 1st paragraph above.
Paidgeek essentially said….... "No way until sometime after CES".

He said he has poked his head in here once or twice for a look-see recently and mentioned that we're all having too much fun and this is supposed to be a "technical" thread.

With regards to that ^, I say he suffering from the mother of all hangovers today.

Speaking of Nickerson, what do you think of this new company, Summit Entertainment, that he is CEO (or whatever) of? I read about the one movie they released, P2 I think, and it sucked horribly, and bombed at the box office.

Recorded MiB last night in OTA HD, was on a local channel. Seeing the PQ of the OTA REALLY makes me wanna buy it on BD.

The WB stuff is being beat to death, Im very interested in what retailer(s) maybe be looking at stocking only blu.

I second this inquiry! I loved "20 Million Miles to Earth" and I will gladly buy more of his work on my preferred format!

Hey Insiders,

According to this link: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...7Y&refer=japan

HD DVD ended up selling 200k more stand alone players than Blu-ray by year end. Is this really significant anymore? I can't imagine 200k players would offset almost 3 million PS3's, especially with disc sales the way they are. Any thoughts?

is that just sony's sales or are the sales of samsung, sharp, panny, pioneer counted too?
