Not to temper the WB enthusiasm, but why are they listed on the CES page for the HD-DVD Promotions Group as having something to present?
Well, Paramount pulled out with no warning. Even if something was planned, woudl they tip their hat early?

Seriously, I don't expect any WB pullout to be cold turkey. They will fill existing solicitations and support current stock till the end of supply,

My bad, I looked at the page a little longer and this is what I responded with on HDD.

So Im going to repeat what I said over there:

Sorry to bust your bubble Rob but there is NOTHING on this page that says Warner has an actual press event scheduled. It just shows that they are a member of the HD-DVD Promotions Group, which IS true. For now....

To include Paramount is misleading since they did not release Blu-ray disc using VC-1. They only used MPEG2 and AVC on Blu-ray Disc.

Disney and Sony BMG have shown that VC-1 can equal AVC.
Kingdom of Heaven shows even MPEG-2 can equal the modern.

The key is a cost efficient compression process. Being that VC-1 has porting tools, that definitely makes it attractive to Warner and New Line.

Paramount did switch (VC-1 to AVC for HD DVD). But, I don't think they ever released a VC-1 on Blu-ray.

True.... but what about AUDIO BD titles? Complete discographies on 1 disc? It's coming... I guarantee it! And soon enough all next gen. disc players will have a blu laser inside.

The music industry needs a new business model worse than hollywood does. BD may be the only way to build value and security into "physical media" on the audio side, not to mention a long awaited step forward in audio quality since vinyl.

We havn't even scratched the surface of the tip of the iceberg yet as far as content delivery via big Blu. : )

P.S.- Insiders. Question? How come Sony hasn't pushed for DSD to be added to the list of codecs to be compatible with BD?

Hey Josh,
The e-bay item’s description has been updated since you first posted it here.
Seems like Gizmodo.com also reads our forum.
Yo Gizmo, it aint "sexy" unless mystik wears it and that sucker that is listed on e-bay is an XL!

On a serious note, if anyone out there is truly interested in purchasing that jacket from that *seller*, I suggest you e-mail him and ask him what exactly the label says on the inside of the jacket……or ask him to post a pic. I can confirm to anyone in a PM if it is legit---- based on the inside labelling.

It looks authentic but, you never can tell with some auctions.

You had better want to do size small, bending over with black thigh highs and stiletto heels-- as we previously discussed.

P.S.
Check your contract as to who has *final cut* rights.

Of course I’m aware, that’s what makes it a worthwhile challenge.
I don’t give a hoot what/who you pose for in Miami.
We’re talking Hollywood baby!

I never thought I would like opera until I enjoyed a performance at La Scala.
You have to discard those comfortable tendencies and try something new!
If it twer easy, it wouldn’t be an adventure!
Geez, you don't have to walk in the heels, just stand in them.

P.S.
Now I think we should take this off-line to our PM inboxes.

Jim, aren’t you a “child of the sixties” and the fan of Across the Universe….. announced to be coming out on Blu-ray?

Did you just try to bait me into talking about Julie Taymor and the theatrical presentation of that delightful film?
The answer is still no. Amy would never forgive me.

100GB holds twice the data of 50GB. It effectively replaces two BD50's. Even if the yield rate for 100GB BD is only 1/2 that of 50GB BD, it's ok... I'd pay twice the price to get everything on a single disc than have to spread it over two. I'd pay more, as a consumer, and see value in getting a 75GB or 100GB BD of LOTR or a TV series, for instance, if it meant I woudn't have to swap as many discs to access content.
Great, the studios won't. The exponentially greater defect rate (dvd-9 is about 5% at this point, DVD-18 is over 20%).

The constant push to put more and more on a disc from a small segment of people. It's not going to happen because of percieved value. People see a 2 disc set as worth more than a 1 and are willing to pay more. Sure you can fit an entire SD TV series on a single BD-50, but they'll never do it with anything that's actually popular, because people aren't going to pay $59.99 for a single disc in anywhere close to the numbers that'll pay it if they think they're getting _6_ discs.
