Out of curiosity where do you guys always find these announcement from Sony and Fox before the blu-ray sites report?

Love it, buy it day one.

There is no way this winter is ever going to end, as long as this groundhog keeps seeing his shadow. I don't see any other way out. He's got to be stopped. And I have to stop him.

anyone know which version the bluray will be based on (since there were 3)?

hopefully it will carry over all special features from all previous versions (which i think the 3rd release did)....but i hope the cover is from the 1st or 2nd version. the 3rd airbrushed cover looked stupid.

Great News! Do you know if it is the Special Edition that came out a few years ago?

I will definitely be picking this up. One of my many favorite Bill Murray movies.

I love the part in the movie where the groundhog is behind the wheel. He probably drives better than most of the drivers around here.

Had it on LaserDisc; bought it on DVD. Sigh. Will buy it on Blu-ray.

I do not know if its the special edition or not - it was literally just listed last night so specs probably won't be here for a little bit.

Just a bit of trivia.

Stephen Sondheim (the great musical theatre composer, who wrote Sweeney Todd), has always wanted to write a musical version of Groundhog Day. From what I recall in interviews he has done, he has always been fascinated by this film and has always wanted to musicalize it for the stage (and quite possibly a film version, perhaps).

I saw the Edge of Tomorrow last week and a had an idea to mix it with the Groundhog Day.

I'm very happy that I had this idea because I didn't know that Groundhog day was remastered. It is my all time favorite movie. The video quality is unbelievable for a movie from 1993. There is basically no grain at all. I was expecting a quality like the Ocean's series. But this... wow
