Arrow was the first to release Sony titles on 4K followed by Scream.

Paramount also now allows boutiques to license 4K rights.
So there’s a chance that Silent Hill will get a 4K?

Depends on if Sony makes a new 4K master.

Would anybody here want to see Silent Hill: Revelation 3D get a Shout release too? The international versions have a ton of bonus features that the US release lacks.

A lot of Silent Hill mojo going around after the announcement of several new games and a new film from Christophe Gans. I never got around to picking up Shout's BD of this film. In terms of both PQ/AQ and bonus content, how does it compare with the old Metropolitan release from France?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see that it uses the same master as the French release. I am still curious about the bonus content, however.

There's SO much CGI though. I wonder how it would end up looking. I'm not too familiar on what happens when a film like that gets a 4K upgrade.

There is probably a safety print or inter-positive struck that has all the CGI and color-timing already completed. This was released right at the beginning of theaters switching to digital.

Honestly I hope so. I don't really like Revelation as much as the first film, but I would love the deleted scenes in (close to) HD.

Am I crazy for preferring the darker, less detailed look of the older disc? Comparing caps it feels like the original disc kind of benefits the look of the film better, whereas the later remaster included on the Shout/French/Aussie rereleases looks too bright to me.

Seems like Shout Studios now owns digital/distribution rights to the sequel Silent Hill Revelation so I wonder if we'll see a Scream Factory release of it eventually lol

It'd foolishly probably buy it. But they should get the rights and release Gans' first film Crying Freeman.

It did, but it was enhanced by CGI. The practical effects, like the dancers in the customers, is really, really impressive! But those scenes feature all sorts of CGI, from the grey children disintegrating and having glowing ember-looking flesh, to the janitor crawling on the floor touching the wall and it turning to rust and stuff.
