Am I missing something here? What's wrong with the ROTS audio?

All of the films have been given a DTS-HD Master Audio 6.1 encode. The prequels were fortunate to be produced during a period when elaborate and hugely enveloping sound design was becoming a primary requirement for any kind of science fiction work. The sound in the prequels delivers massively impressive results in every respect with sophisticated, engrossing channel separations with all of the mammoth amounts of ambient effects necessary for the film’s effectiveness to be maximized. John Williams’ symphonic music gets a world-class orchestral treatment and is greatly impacted by the spread through every available channel throughout the presentation. The seismic blasts in Episode II are particularly impressive in lossless audio. Throughout these three films, the LFE channel gets a rigorous workout sometimes approaching system-threatening levels of bass. Dialogue is always discernible and is anchored to the center channel.

So, is my episode III copy defect then?

Naw, my copy of Episode III is clearly lacking and sounds muffled and neutered. I dunno what their deal is, do they have their amps set to use a maximizer or something?

I really don't know how a home theatre reviewer could have missed it.

Have you watched the prequels yet?

If you watch TPM and AOTC, and keep your system at the same level, don't you notice a distinctive lack of bass, and even low to mid-range frequencies in general, compared to the first two, when you watch ROTS? It wasn't something I had to look out for, it just sounds gutless compared to, well, all 5 other movies, actually.

There are times when the dialogue sounds like it was recorded in the 70's too.

I expected and would have preferred Anakin to be more good natured like Luke and faced with a moment of truth decision. For Luke, that was when he had Vader down and at his mercy. He's heady with his own power but I never picked up the anger and rage. In fact, in retrospect, I don't think Luke took Owen and Beru's murder near as seriously as he should. We get one moment of... not tearful certainly. Not Hulk-rage like Anakin reacts to Shmi's death. Determined, certainly, but not at all what I would expect from someone who's parents have been murdered and you see their smoking remains. Even if Anakin and Padme were Luke's biological father and mother, the Lars' were his parents.

For Anakin that sent him off the deep end he transposes that trauma to neurosis over Padme. Luke seems to shrug it off or at least bottle it up. I never see pure rage on Luke's face until the final duel in ROTJ. Anakin shows it seconds after Shmi is killed.
I also thought Luke's response to Owen and Beru's death was too light, but I attribute it to being driven by the Force. With The Imperials hot on their trail, they needed to get off the planet now, so I like to think the Force influenced Luke into taking action asap instead of skulking.

Similarly, I thought Anakin's conversion was TOO quick. Sure, given the rage he may have been holding, I still feel his conversion was too sudden. Thus, my explanation is that it was driven by the Dark Side, as spoken by Yoda during Luke's training on Doggybag Dagobah when Luke asked if the Dark Side were stronger, Yoda repled, "No. Quicker. Easier. More seductive." That's how I explain it to myself, anyway .

That's what some people have said. I didn't buy the prequel DVDs. I just got over the sour taste in my mouth recently so I could buy the Blu-rays.

Anyway no personal experience from me. Either way it's pretty disappointing compared to TPM and AOTC. Users reporting having to crank it right up and still not getting any LFE after the opening scene... it's enough to make Baby Jesus cry.

Then in AOTC she's leading against the Military Creation Act (which is before anyone in the Senate or Jedi knows about the clones so must be regular enlisted/commissioned beings). Thus when the Clones are found and the Separatist threat revealed, the Republic absolutely needs a military. Fail. The clones, of course, turn out to the ultimate checkmate for the Sith against the Jedi (and the Republic. Fail x2. Then she turns it over to Jar Jar, who tips the balance to giving Palpatine Emergency Powers. Mega fail.

The only right thing we see her doing in public office was ROTS fostering the nascent Rebellion, which was deleted from the theatrical cut.

And not to mention in TPM her vote of confidence against the Chancellor which lead to 'you-know-who' being elected new Chancellor.

___________

Which now brings to mind...

She goes to the Senate to plead her case against the Trade Federation. But when things don't go her way, she makes a motion for a vote of confidence to remove said Chancellor.

So after he is removed, the Senate then votes her own senator in as the new Chancellor.

How the heck is that even fair? Wouldn't the Senate have voted in someone shall we say...

"more neutral"?

But instead they elect one of the disputed parties senator as Chancellor.

Why would they do that? Or am I missing something here?

.

Well, obviously, it's symbolism, meant to mirror the... aw hell I dunno!

I'm sure someone will have an excuse for it though, if you give it enough time.

I was almost shocked when Obi-Wan was fighting Grievous after the chase and barely earing the sound of Grievous when he hits the ground with his foot while trying to kick Obi-Wan

Lucasfilm associate Ken Ogawa recently sent us a handful of snapshots from Japan depicting the lightsaber handrails being used to promote Star Wars on Blu-ray in the Land of the Rising Sun. And just in case riders didn’t get the not-so-subtle hint that something Star-Wars-y was afoot, several transit posters promoting the Blu-ray release were also displayed throughout the train cars.

If you choose to simply watch only one of the two trilogies, there are far less continuity errors to keep you up at night.

@Mavrick what the hell? Stop stretching my screen. If it's this bad on a 1080p screen, lower resolution users must be losing their freaking minds in rage.

Yeah, I'm sure she looks like that all the time (not to mention the sickly green/yellow lighting).

While we're posting pics out of context...
Obviously, you never saw a recent video of Carrie Fisher. She's lost a lot of that weight and I believe it was Good Morning America she was on. Watch the video at the link below and the image posted below from the interview:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891...55248#44255248

She looks absolutely wonderful and healthy. But, then again, I doubt Natalie Portman will look the same way she does now when she's 54 years old.

Heheh... that's precisely the reason why I use an external monitor with my laptop when I'm not sitting out in the family room. 1366 x 768 native res stinks with web browsing.

Most people use a computer to browse the internet... not their TV screen

Looks fine in 1280 by 800 btw... so I don't see how it would be a problem in 1080.

Luke being on it or not shouldn't matter, the Force connects you to all living things, not just other Force-enabled individuals.

Yea, Vader failed there, however

had no problem figuring it out.
