100% agree, and yes, I get the lectures on "you are missing out on this & that in 1080P and so forth. If George provided Star Wars in the same manner Ridley Scott provided the Alien anthology, we wouldn't be having these discussions overloading the forums. He could easily provide both editions (Tinkered & originals) and whoever complained beyond that would need need their head examined.

If he upscaled the DVDs to 1080p, technically they're still the best they ever looked. Doesn't mean they would look great, though.
And please, most of the complaints are legitimate. Episode I was in fact DNRed, the original versions weren't there, most of the previous extras weren't there, and Lucas used the same masters that were made for the DVD versions. Those seem like legitimate complaints to me.

Well they are not legitimate and to me their just typical fanboy complaints and just more GL bashing which I don't like and won't stand for. If you don't like the blu-rays them don't buy them or watch them it's that simple. And it has been said in the reviews for the blu-rays of the OT Lucas did not use the same masters yes it's based off the ones from 2004 but as a starting point to fixed some of the issues from the DVD's. So in fact their not the same transfers for the OT as 2004 for the blu-ray's.

In my case, I don't dwell on it too much because I do intend to get this set. I'm a Star Wars fan and I can't hold out anymore. If there's anything that I will insult George Lucas on, is not releasing the original versions in anamorphic video for the DVD releases not too long ago. That was VERY, VERY, VERY frustrating.

How are they not legitimate? Technical issues with the transfers are abound in each installment (to varying degrees), many of which have been identified by this site's assigned reviewer, as well as on other review websites. If you don't want to acknowledge them, that's fine, but it doesn't change the fact that issues exist, particularly with Episode I and the original trilogy.

Beyond the technical issues are the revisions to content, which are just as, if nor more disconcerting to me (as a fan). Seeing as this topic has been debated ad nauseum, I'm not recapping nor revisiting this proverbial dead horse. As for the GL bashing, well, he brought that on himself, and assuming the role of white knight to protect his legacy is a meaningless gesture. He doesn't need anyone to protect his interests; he can fend for himself.

Kenny, no one is personally attacking you if they complain about the movies, and George Lucas doesn't even know you exist, so you don't have to defend him like you do.

I tend to always put content before technical quality and presentation. Because of that, I'd rather watch my fan-made DVD transfers of the original trilogy on my smaller TV than the Blu-Ray editions on my 1080p projector setup (my projector is only for HD material). Its just a better experience to be able to watch the movies without the continual annoyances of many of the alterations.

So discussing the picture quality/content of a blu-ray is not legitimate discussion on a blu-ray forum? What do you consider legitimate?

They're the same scans made far too many years ago, that's what I was getting at. Nice of him to make a few fixes, but that doesn't make the scans practically obsolete. Especially for these films I'd expect the best the format has to offer. And "won't stand for"? What, you're going to make people on the internet stop arguing with each other? Good luck with that.

One cannot call another a fanboy if said person has R2D2 as his avatar. Pot, meet Kettle...

Anyway, I don't understand what you mean when you said: "Lucas did not use the same masters yes it's based off the ones from 2004 but as a starting point to fixed some of the issues from the DVD's." Are you saying they made new Masters from the 2004 material? That isn't a new master, its a copy of a copy. A new Master is going back and making a new scan of the Original Negative which was 'touched up' back in 1997. Not trying to be a jerk, I just don't understand what you are trying to articulate.

All I'm saying is there where additional things done to the 2004 transfers on the transfers for the blu-rays and a few touch up's here and there. But what's the point anyway any time I talk about the blu-ray's it's just endless arguing from some of you and it's on and on and on. If you don't like the blu-ray's then don't watch them or don't buy them it's that simple. I chose to enjoy the blu-ray's are there flaws with them yes and I understand that but I'm not going to get upset and argue over it like most of are on here and other a/v forums are doing. Because arguing about it over and over again gets old after a while.

I understand that there are some fans that are upset with the changes GL has made to the films I get that and people have a right to their opinion but you can't use the changes made to the films as a reason not to get the blu-ray's or to not watch them ok. Do I wish the original cuts of the OT where on blu-ray yes but I'm not going to be upset over it like some are on here and other A/V forums. And if you don't like my comments about the blu-ray's that fine too but don't make fun of my comments. Just enjoy the blu-rays of the star wars saga and stop arguing about them and about there flaws all films have flaws not just the star wars films.

You're still not going to get a check from Lucasfilm, you know. Even if you were, I'd re-invest that money in buying punctuation marks so you won't be posting runonsentencesthatlastforeversothatno-onecanunderstandyourincoherentsycophanticravings any longer.

So you're saying we should buy something we already know we're not going to enjoy?

I'm saying stop arguing about the faults with the blu-ray release and that the original cuts of the OT are not in the set. It's just endless arguing that's all it is I understand some have a right to their opinion about the blu-ray's but arguing about is tiresome.

You're not commenting on the BDs, you're merely whining about people having the temerity to not like the SEs and comment negatively on the technical flaws of the set!
