It was a pretty creepy and uncomfortable scene in general. In fact, all Anakin does is make unwanted advances (sand) and beg for sex (fireplace) throughout that whole part of the film.

i do and ironically dusted them off as well as the indy 'trilogy' not really a big fan of these movies but at least i have the originals

Huh? His advances weren't unwanted, nor was he begging for sex. If you actually watch the scene, you'll see that Padme leans in for the kiss just as much as he does. Also, the fireplace scene wasn't one of Anakin begging for sex, he was trying to get her to open up to the idea that they could be together as a couple, not for a sleazy one night stand. He isn't supposed to be a Mack-Daddy, he's a virgin. The ONLY woman he's probably ever had a crush on was Padme. Hell, she's probably the only woman he's ever really known! So his lines ain't gonna be GQ smooth, they're gonna be innocent. They're gonna be corny. Don't know why everybody was expecting Ani to be like Han. Ol' Solo was a man of the spaceways. He had probably taken quite a few chicks into his bed before "A New Hope". Anakin hadn't taken a single one, so how would he know the right words to use when mackin' on a honey-dip?

That second line is Padme's, not Anakin's, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say here... What's wrong with her wanting to be held? The Wife asks me to hold her all the time.

I agree about Jedi Rocks being awkward and just terrible. I think GL again had good intentions but went too far. The idea was to update Sy Snoodles so she wasn't just standing there not really moving. He should have just kept the original song, updated her with CGI so she could dance or whatever, and let that be that. But the pop music video was over the top cheesy, and really stands out.

The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones is full of women. There's Padme's Handmaidens (the girl from Bend It Like Beckham and the chick who directed Lost In Translation) when she's Queen and Senator, Shmi Skywalker and the old crone that tells him 'a storm is coming' on Tatooine.

Anakin's life was full of ladies. Luke only had Camie before falling in love with his sister....

I say they were unwanted because it's pretty clear that Padme isn't interested early on and Anakin has the look of a serious creep when he's staring at her. Yes, Leia was also pretty uninterested in Han early on, but the writers behind ESB made their relationship believable and natural. Anakin's crying and teenage angst stemming from being a lonely virgin monk just makes it that much more of a forced romance, in my opinion. It's just bad writing on the part of Lucas and bad behavior on the part of his Yes Men who gave it the green light.

Padme's line doesn't even make sense. Plotting and war brought them together, there was never a "before." Also.. the "hold me" totally came out of the blue in the midst of a heated conversation about the very interesting (to Lucas anyway) political situation on Coruscant. It reminds me of another stupid line... "Anakin, YOU'RE BREAKING MY HEART." He killed a bunch of kids and that's what you have to say? Really?
