There's a lot to love in that film, but it's got too many issues with the characters and the script to be concidered "excellent", IMHO.

I'd call it "above average" in most respects, and "head-scratchingly disappointing" in a few areas.

Prometheus is so divisive. So many people think it's horrible and so many people think it's amazing. I am firmly in the "it was pretty good" camp. It has flaws, namely character behaviors, but it's certainly no travesty.

And no matter what it's visually amazing, as always with Ridley.

Same here-- it was great visually and well-directed, but there were certain points in the script that were so mind-boggling in their stupidity that I honestly can't understand why nobody making the film noticed and thought they should maybe change it.

I watched the entire 3+ hour making-of documentary and it really seems like a lot of the character stupidity was an homage to horror movies, even though it doesn't work in the narrative. Lots of weird decisions going on in pre-production for that movie. It doesn't even know if it's an Alien prequel or not.

It's so visually amazing though, and has so much good stuff going on anyway, that I still put it in the "good" camp. I think the IMDB average of a 7 is about right.

I've probably mentioned this before, but you know what I'd love to see in addition to the original versions of the movies on Blu-ray?

Complete soundtracks for the prequels. Honestly it baffles me that this HASN'T happened.

And not like that "Ultimate Edition" soundtrack that The Phantom Menace got. I didn't like how the tracks "bled into" each other resulting in tracks ending abruptly and some being really short. Not to mention some of the tracks were plagued with random spots of static "PSHHH!!!" noise.

I want releases like the original trilogy. Although I'd love it if they came out with "dialogue" versions of Across the Stars and Battle of the Heroes like they did with Durl of the Fates. THAT is a great track.

I am not getting my hopes up but maybe tomorrow we will get an official announcement that the Original Theatrical Unaltered Versions of the Original Trilogy will be coming out on Blu-Ray later this year. If Disney were to make an announcement it would probably be on May 4th.

I'm still betting on 5-4-2017.

The Celebration music was promised to be the version from the movie!
It wasn't!
It was whatever crap it was on the original CD!

Let's sure hope so.

But like I said; even announcing the Ewok films on Blu and/or the complete series of Droids and Ewoks would still be a win-win for me.

Is there any real point to owning The Complete Saga now that the saga is no longer complete?

You know you're a real Star Wars fan if you consider certain EU material as canon.

But not a 4k print, maybe that Lowry print isn't for consumer consumption after all, but just for the library of congress to hold a pristine copy. The UOT never seems farther away.

Really who cares about a 4k print?

Anyone who wants the best possible version of the unaltered 1977 version, I guess that isn't you then?

With that thinking 80% of sequels are fan-fiction. For Star Trek, it would be barring all the movies except for The Motion Picture.
