Not only had Anakin already started down the path of the dark Side BEFORE ROTS so if this truly was to indicate that Anakin returned to the good Anakin he wouldn't have had the long hair, but they just replaced the head only and he was wearing robes that he never ever wore ( which was also a mistake made in ROTJ. Obi-Wan wasn't wearing jedi robes in ANH. He was wearing Native tatooine robes. Was Owen a jedi too?) And this mistake was carried through to the prequels too.

At that point the audience hasn´t seen him dying and no actor has been associated with young Anakin. You know, the spirit is just seen for a brief moment. I don´t get why this is such a big deal for the conservatives.

Because, it's disrespectful to the actor who played Anakin in ROTJ.

And as much as I loved both prequels and originals, they should be treated as 2 seperate movie series, not as 1. They were made like 16 years apart, I don't know why Lucas tries to treat them as one. I don't even like that they are named IV, V and VI. It's stupid that the "prequels" are supposed to be in the past yet look much more futuristic than the originals. That is why they should be treated as 2 different series. They should be named just "Star Wars", "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi".

Maybe when Lucas dies we'll finally get the unaltered versions, by whoever owns the rights. Kind of harsh, but yeah

BTW why does Lucas have the rights to Return of the Jedi anyway? Shouldn't the director Richard Marquand have the say in how his movie is treated?

He is dead...been dead a long time. He died back in 87; but in principal yes they were Marquands and Kershner's vision just as much as GL.

Damn. True. Even though he's dead, it's still his movie. His closest relative should own the rights then.

I wouldn't want some idiot defacing my film if I was dead either.

Just because he directed it doesn't mean he owns it. Lucas has control over the Star Wars franchise whether he likes it or not, and he's no idiot. Plus he [Lucas] personally funded RotJ. He gave us IMO the greatest film franchise of all time, and he didn't do it on a whim. Attacking Lucas won't get anybody anywhere.

Yes Lucas owns them (and can do with them as he pleases) but he did have someone else direct ESB and ROTJ and that is creating art is it not?. When you are in the directors chair it is your vision being put on screen. So basically Lucas is contradicting himself on the stance he took in 88 that only the director of a film should be able to alter his/her creations and the studio should have no say. With regards to those two films Lucas I would say is the studio,or should we just accept the fact that it's not ok for anyone else to tinker with films? Unless you are Lucas you get a free pass...

I'm pretty sure of it. I think it got kind of confirmed a few days ago...

Also it would be nice to include the "Imperial March" into "A New Hope" and add some CGI to the Alderaan-destruction. I wouldn't mind either if some of the more lifeless puppets (like the tauntaun) got the CGI-treatment.

I really hope that also. I always think the "Imperial March" is missing in "A new Hope". Alderaan could really benefit from some CGI work.

Does anyone know how much work it is to replace CGI models with more advanced ones? I mean can we expect E1 Boss Nass to be replaced by E3 Boss Nass or is it to much work to be expected in this release?

Talking of Nass... does anyone know what "new weesom" means? I never figured it out.

Why would you include the Imperial March in Star Wars? It was introduced in TESB and should stay that way. The Tauntauns also look fine the way they are.

Marquand might have held the title "director" on ROTJ, but Lucas pretty much directed it. It was Marquand's first major film and Lucas had to do alot of stuff for him. Considering Kershner was strong willed and didn't let Lucas interfere with his directing I don't think its coincidence that Lucas picked someone unexperienced for ROTJ so he could have more influence over him and the film. This isn't any kind of bash against Lucas just in case someone thinks it might be.

Marketing!

So does LOTR, T2 Skynet, and the first two Ultimate Editions of Harry Potter. But they are 5.1 ES Matrix.

5.1 ES which has a 6.1 output from a matrixed center-surround channel. All the Star Wars films have been released in Dolby Digital Surround EX. It's better marketing-speak when you say "6.1" but it's really 5.1 EX/ES. The PS3 will display "6.1" for these soundtracks too, but put the disc in any BD player or bitstream to any receiver that has "DTS Essentials" (which are most BD players out there) and you'll see plain 5.1. There are very, very few true 6.1 encodes out there, like X-MEN: The Last Stand (and Essentials decoders will actually decode these as 6.1).

Pixar/Disney does the opposite: they will advertise 5.1 but a lot of their discs are actually 5.1 ES like Bolt, The Incredibles, and the Toy Story BDs.
