Dolby is smart and greed.

Why pay fee licence for UHD disc and too much cost??

DV 12bits can use HDMI 1.4 cable need an UHDTV with DV logo.

Good enough VuVa redeem UHD with DV.

Knock up on tree!

The list of DV discs on the first post still lists the HP discs as DV discs.

I didn't think Harry Potter would get the Dolby Vision treatment anyway. The films were done before Dolby Cinema was a thing. I'd believe Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to get it before HP.

Dolby Vision HDR grades are independent of Dolby Cinema.

Can old films be remastered with Dolby Vision and expect to see significant improvements over SDR or HDR10?

You can do a DV HDR grade of any film. However it looks depends on how dynamic the original film capture is.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind will be interesting for sure, with those super bright & colorful ships and dark scenes.

CE3K would gorgeous considering all the SFX shots were shot in 65mm film stock.

Silence of the Lambs got the Dolby Vision treatment on Vudu recently. It's supposed to be a lot nicer than the Blu-Ray copy, from what I've heard. The Blu-Ray was MPEG2 though. To answer your question, yes old films remastered with Dolby Vision can expect to see benefits. HDR-10 is only 10-bit color depth. 12-bit color DV encodes ensure no color banding, even on a 10-bit panel.

Good eye! It says right there on the back of both 1&2: UHD Dolby Vision/HDR10

Strange The Great Wall (one month earlier) isn't getting the Dolby Vision treatment.
