Jack Huston would be a great choice. He's young and very talented.

He was so badass on Boardwalk Empire and brought a lot of emotional weight to the role. He would be an excellent choice!

You need to watch Boardwalk Empire immediately. The guy can seriously act.

Sounds like his contract is about to be signed but until it's 100% official coming from Marvel Studios, I'm not going to state that he is in fact Dr. Strange just yet.

Thing is (if the Joaquin cast ends up confirmed), they could have both him -and- Huston. If the rumors about the movie not being truly an origin story also prove true, I could imagine a movie made partially of flashbacks, with Huston playing young Dr Strange, before becoming the Sorcerer Supreme (J. Phoenix).

This way, they could both tackle the origin, and show Dr Strange as the accomplished Sorcerer he is supposed to be.

That would be a great idea for the Doctor Strange movie. I like that idea you came up with !

No way! Shut up! This is amazing if it's true. I honestly can't even picture it. Joaquin Phoenix in a Marvel movie. Seems so beneath him lol.

I would prefer Leto, but Phoenix works for me.

I'm still in the Adrian Brody camp, but Phoenix would do very well.

Besides, Brody is going to be Houdini so I'll *kinda* get to see him as Dr Strange.

I have a bad feeling about this....

Phoenix is a good actor but his humour and sensibility seems more at home in the indie sector. He doesn't have the lightness of RDJ and I don't think he'll appeal to a mainstream audience in the same way Marvel's other leads do, all of whom have a vaguely similar appeal. And though I'm sure the money appeals, I really can't see Phoenix being happy in the long term.

I mean, Marvel are smart enough to have earned some trust in this regard so hopefully they're aware of all that and it fits with their vision. But recent experiences with Edward Norton, Edgar Wright and a few others suggest that they're not immune to such errors.

We shall see...
