I enjoyed Doctor Strange more than I thought I would. There was more humor than I was expecting considering some of the pre-release comments from the director and others. The finale "battle" was very well done and - I feel - is something never seen in a movie before. I could be wrong. It's perhaps start to finish a more well constructed movie than Civil War but without the mind-blowing airport action sequence that Civil War had. The trippy visuals of Doctor Strange make up for that though. Kind of wish I'd seen it in 3D but there's time for that later.

Having seen it in IMAX 3D (twice) and normal 2D, 3D is definitely a must imo, IMAX if possible. I'm going back for my 3rd IMAX showing this weekend because it's a great experience there, especially since over half of it is in the opened up AR, and it definitely makes a difference in the big scenes and just looks good in general. Thank god Marvel have been doing VAR for their BD releases because I'd be pissed if it wasn't available in that AR when it's released on home video.

DC's first three movies also cost substantially more than Marvel's, and weren't well recieved. And I haven't seen a single article that positions WW as next summer's biggest film. You've convinced yourself that your opinion is fact.

It was the best use of 3D in a Marvel film to date imo, but it still didn't really add anything special to the experience. If you've enjoyed previous Marvel films in 3D, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this one as well, but so far, I don't think I've been really wowed by the 3D in any superhero film so far. The last 2 X-Men came close and are probably the best example so far, but I still wouldn't call any of them "a must".

interesting.

I usually don't see Marvel movies in 3D, but I'm considering making an exception for Dr. Strange.

Based on the IMAX preview alone, this movie NEEDS 3D. Seeing it in 2D is like only seeing half the movie.

I actually much prefer watching 3D at home, but I very rarely see it in the theater.

Opposite for me, but even then I'm picky with what I see/buy in 3D.

I almost never see movies in 3D (last time I did was with Rise of The Guardians), so it'll be interesting for me how I react to this.

Never watch movies in 3D. Unless you enjoy not seeing the correct colour scheme or black levels.

All of that stuff goes out the window when you stick those black glasses on. You get a darker, softer washed out image.

I forget which magazine I was reading. It may have been EW. They were anticipating a $400 million gross for Wonder Woman and I don't think that's unfair at this point. There is so much pent up demand for a female superhero and for Diana Prince's debut solo film. Wonder Woman, Guardians, and Furious 8 will be the biggest films of next summer, undoubtedly.

I care not for the cost of the films. WB is happy with them and that's all that matters. Marvel's first three films cost between $140 million and $200 million and none of them grossed as much as DC lowest grossing film, Man of Steel, which cost less than Iron Man 2 and made most of its budget back purely from merchandising licensing. In fact, Incredible Hulk, which cost $140 million, only made $263 million worldwide. That is a flop. Not a disappointment. A big ol' flop.

Theaters/filmmakers have gotten way better at compensating for the glasses. It's really very rarely a problem anymore.

actually this makes sense. I can easily compensate for that on my tv at home, but not in the theater.

Only four of those are from the MCU.

Also, adjust for inflation and it becomes more interesting with DC at four and MCU at 3 and Marvel overall at six.

1 Marvel's The Avengers - $661,947,300
2 The Dark Knight - $641,130,800
3 Spider-Man - $598,263,700
4 Batman - $542,039,300
5 Spider-Man 2 - $517,966,800
6 The Dark Knight Rises - $495,779,300
7 Superman - $493,853,500
8 Avengers: Age of Ultron - $460,866,700
9 Spider-Man 3 - $421,152,000
10 Iron Man 3 - $420,239,900

I have liked every one of the Marvel movies with Guardians of the Galaxy being one of my favorite movies of all. I hated Man of Steel but I thought BvS was pretty good, mainly because of Affleck's Batman and Wonder Woman. I will be VERY interested in seeing a solo Batman movie with Affleck and a Wonder Woman movie. She was the best part of BvS, especially her theme music. Suicide Squad was a mess.
