There's really been that much inflation since Dark Knight in 2008? Wow.

Spidey will be big but I dunno how much interest there'll really be for another Pirates. I'm sure it'll make money but I have a feeling the vast majority of it will be overseas. The last one sucked, it's been a while, and Depp's star has taken a big hit. We'll see.

Pirates will probably do about the same as On Stranger Tides, which was substantially less than the previous installments, at least in North America. $200 million is probably the max in North America. I can't see it doing nearly as well internationally as the last film, which came around when 3D was still a big draw.

Spider-Man Homecoming might hit $300 million in North America, but this will be the sixth solo Spider-Man film with the third actor in the title role in the last fifteen years and the series peaked with the first entry and has never met those numbers again, so I don't see this doing much better than the first Amazing Spider-Man, in the high 200's.

You're kidding about Valerian, right? It could be a breakout hit and make over $100 million in North America and it'll likely earn some nice coin overseas, but it's not in the same league as Furious, Guardians, or Wonder Woman.

Saw Doctor Strange last Saturday and I have to say it was another very good Marvel movie, its definitely worth watching again (which i probably will before the end of the year). The one downside that only just came to mind was that
[Show spoiler]the villain was 'defeated' pretty easily considering his great power

Another issue i (personally) had was that it was kinda difficult understand the talking, kinda how Bane was in The Dark Knight Rises. I mean it took me a while to finally know the villains name

But overall it was really good at bringing in the magic/spells side of the Marvel Universe to the big screen

I love all the comic movies either or. I don't care if its DC or Marvel, never had and never will. I love my Batman as much as I love my Spidey. Never understood this endless discussion, a little bit like Star Wars vs Star Trek. I love both franchises.
Anyways, I am looking forward to watch the Dr on Sunday in an Imax. Usually I avoid 3D, but here, after all this positive comments about the 3D, I am curious. A German newspaper even said its the best 3D since Avatar.

I think Valerian will be a huge surprise. The marketing hasn't even started. We'll know more when the first trailer hits in a few days, but I think it's going to be something special and way over $100 million domestic.
Episode VIII will crush everything else anyway though.

[Show spoiler]Do you mean Kaecilius or Dormammu? And being that Strange had to use an Infinity Stone to beat them, I don't know that I'd classify that as "easy".

Personally I was a bit iffy after my first watch, but I've enjoyed it a lot more each of the two other times I've seen it, and I've already booked my fourth viewing for this weekend (IMAX 3D, aw yeah). For all the criticism I've seen of the supposedly basic origin story, I think it was purposely done due to the audience having to wrap their heads around being introduced to magic and being able to understand this new part of the MCU they've opened up. Which is why my repeat viewings were better as I was able to take more of it in.

(NON-SPOILER Review)

Jon Schnepp calls it "one of the best single hero films I've seen. It's up there in the top five of all superhero films."

At the end of the video he adds, "it's the most incredible adaptation of a comic book movie that I've ever seen."

Average rating from the four is a 8.53 out of 10. (The one guy said "eight point something" so I gave him a 8.5)

Agree with Schnepp, there is no real weakness in this origin film.

Schnepp is now predicting the movie will break $100 million opening weekend in the USA. He's the only one I've seen say that. It was on today's Movietalk Show.

I can't see it hitting any higher that $75 million to be honest.

I've been staying out of this thread to keep my mind as untainted as possible.

But popping in for anyone who may have been waiting for that big ol' fat IMAX poster.

Doctor Strange IMAX poster 48" x 70"

38,000 credits

Checked out faster than you can say "hoary hosts of hoggoth"

Less than 48 hours for me. Thursday opening night and Saturday Laser IMAX at the Chinese. I'll probably see it Friday too!

Just got in from seeing this. Thought it was excellent overall.

Will be buying day one to re-watch

4/5

Only two things bring it down

. The humour didn't hit any cords with me, fell flat.
. Visuals I found creative and awesome but the Design of
[Show spoiler] Dormammu was just a boring shouting face, I don't know if he looks like that in the comics.

5/10.

I was pretty damn bored while watching it; we've seen this all before of origin stories. It had some cool visuals, well acted by Cumberbatch & McAdams - I loved their chemistry.
I was not a fan of Tilda Swinton in this at all - reminded me of a character from the Last Air Bender.
Hahah as much as I give the benefit of a doubt in these MCU movies. A certain scene took me out of it for a good 15 mins. It's like nope - you are dead. Inception meets the Matrix-ish
