Not to mention
[Show spoiler]Kaecilius was able to free himself and his minions from the time reversal. The time reversal ability wasn't some wave of a wand and everything is reset. It worked differently in our world than the dark dimension. They explicitly say AND PUT EMPHASIS ON "it's a place outside of time" (paraphrased). They covered all their basis for this.

This is one of the dumbest criticisms I've heard yet.

I thought this was one of the top 5 (maybe top 3) Marvel movies. Even my wife really enjoyed it and she doesn't care much for the superhero movie genre. I think they stayed fairly faithful to the basic character and what was outright changed or at least fudged with to a small degree mostly worked. I didn't find it an issue that The Ancient One was played by Swinson. Giving the cloak something of a personality was a neat touch, if a bit Harry Potterish. Wong was perfect.

Casting was fine, although I think Mads Mikkelsen should have simply played (Baron) Mordo as the main bad guy and the Kaecilius character jettisoned altogether. The only other thing I didn't care for was the last act big ol' battle with the giant floating head who looked more like Thanos then the villain supposedly being portrayed.

On a technical level, it seemed like the black levels onscreen were not very solid. Something I don't think I've ever noticed in any recent theatrical digital projection.

So what's Dr Strange 2 gonna be like? Adaptation of the Englelhard/Brunner "Sise-neg Genesis" storyline? Be a good way to make good use of Chiwetel Ejiofor's Mordo without making him do a major, unrealistic 180 degree turn to total evil bad guy between two movies.
That's a great storyline and would make a great movie. And hell, if they used a character like Kaecilius, it seems like they'd be willing to use anyone from Strange's books. That's one of the greatest stories showing how massive the things are Strange deals with and no one knows about. The ending leaves you with something to think about too.

Except for Tilda Swinton, I liked the cast and the trippy effects. A few of the jokes made me chuckle. In the end, though, I feel indifferent towards it, but it was worth a watch.

Exactly, this movie was made for 3D and those who are watching it only in 2D are missing out on so much. This is the best 3D we've had from Marvel yet and it's a huge step in the right direction.

Agree! The 3D for Age Of Ultron and Civil War were average, but this film has a lot of ghosting throughout! Barely any mild scenes. Also, a lot of people from Stereo D and Legend3D were involved for this.

Especially in IMAX. The video fills the whole screen for over half the film and is incredible in 3D on that larger format. I'm going to see it a second time today in my local IMAX.

My favourite scene in IMAX:
[Show spoiler]Strange and Mordo falling between cities. That vast space just looks immense on that giant screen!

That's definitely an amazing scene in IMAX. All of the fight ones are as well
[Show spoiler]particularly when they're outside and the buildings are being moved, like in the opening fight with TAO vs Kaecilious and his followers. I also love the score during that particular scene, totally epic.
Speaking of the score, WowHD just shipped my copy yesterday, so I should get it next week, I can't wait to listen to it again.

Even though Fantastic Beasts is coming out on Thursday, my local IMAX is still having one showing a day of Doctor Strange, so I might catch it again there on the weekend. I've already seen it there four times, but it just looks too good in IMAX.

Although I didn't see it in IMAX, that was the best 3D shot in the entire film. It's demo-worthy.

Saw it again on a different IMAX screen in 3D. Loved it even more on the second viewing! I caught a few things I missed on my first viewing
[Show spoiler]like the Stark Tower in New York in the mirror universe
. Can't wait for this on 3D Blu-ray (and hopefully UHD).

1. Why'd he lose his accent?

2. He learned magic so fast it was almost unbelievable.

3. Saw it in 3D IMAX. Heard it was dark but the color was bright in IMAX. Is it normal to be brighter in IMAX?

4. Very trippy! So many scenes were in IMAX. Were they real IMAX or upconvert?

5. Was the midcredits scene setting up the next Thor movie or the next Avengers movie? The end credits scene sets up the next Doctor Strange movie, right? Felt bad the guy is crippled again. As an aside, enough of the so and so will return lines at the end. We get it. There will be a sequel!

I heard there was like an hour of footage in IMAX.

Question for people who saw this on actual film and IMAX digital. Was it supposed to look drab and with some washed out blacks? 4K screening I saw look meh.

The movie itself was in-between for me, I think it's the weakest Marvel movie since IM3. Kaecilius was a good villain, but needed more screentime.

How would you know if it was on film? Mine just said IMAX 3D. I found it bright and colorful, shockingly so since 3D is normally dark and drab. Figured IMAX was the reason.

I saw it projected in 4K, I wanted to know if the drab look was really intentional or a bad projection. It was not IMAX.

Definitely not supposed to look like that. It's a very vibrant film. If it comes to 4K UHD it'd be an HDR presentation worthy of demo material.

No need to get all mad about it. It's a different opinion on a movie about action figures crashing into each other.
