He did those memorable commercials for Halo and Gears of War. He's already worked with Disney on 'Tron: Legacy'. Also, I thought 'Oblivion' was great (was his second movie). Marvel should get this guy for something.

RUMOR: HANNIBAL Star Mads Mikkelsen Considered For DOCTOR STRANGE Role By Marvel?

According to one report about Marvel's hunt for a Doctor Strange director, there's a very good reason that they're considering Nikolaj Arcel. Why? Because that movie starred Casino Royale and Hannibal's Mads Mikkelsen, and he's apparently being considered for the role...

In Bleeding Cool's report about the Doctor Strange directing candidates, they reveal that there's already one name floating about in regards to who might end up starring in the movie which is likely to be released in 2016 as part of Marvel's Phase 3 plans. "According to one pretty solid Marvel-adjacent source, Arcel’s Royal Affair star Mads Mikkelsen apparently is, or has been, somewhere in the mix for the film’s early casting discussions. I’m still trying to find another source on that, or to clarify which part it would be, and whether or not Mikkelsen might have already passed or been passed over." Bear in mind that Marvel wanted Mikkelsen for the role of Malekith in Thor: The Dark World, but he was forced to drop out due to his commitments to Hannibal. That makes it likely then that Marvel still want to work with him, and a role like Baron Mordo seems even more likely than the Doctor himself. Which character do you think he's best suited to?

This would be an excellent choice. This guy is great. Recently saw THE HUNT and he was fantastic in it.

Mads was going to play Malekith in Thor TDW but dropped out because of Hannibal so I can believe this. I would love this casting. He would make a great villain obviously.

If Levine or the guy behind A Royal Affair were behind this film (along with Mads) I'd be totally on board.

Heard nothing bad about A Royal Affair and a director outside of the box like him seems really interesting, And Levine is just a really likeable director who's clever when it comes to the correct tone of a film.

As for the other two, Brave isn't a good judge of directorial quality and Welcome to Yesterday looks like a mess to me.

Also keep Niccol and the Jumper guy far FAR away from this.

I tend to be pretty sceptical with comic movie casting rumors, but this one makes sense. Maybe too much sense.

can't see that happening and i think he's a good actor; i just dont see him headlining a film especially a superhero film

i could totally see him playing Mordo or some other strange villain though

I am pretty sure he was cast as Malekith (Not sure how to spell that) in Thor the Dark World but dropped out because Hannibal. So he does have a history with Marvel.

I believe the rumor, but I'm under the impression he's probably up for the villain, not for Strange himself. I can't see him as the sorcerer supreme. But I sure as hell can see him as the villain of the piece.

I'd love to see them have some ongoing villains finally. We have Loki, but he plays the line. I want to see a full on villain continue past one film in phase 3 and beyond.

Mads is a great actor but I think he would be awful for this part.

The man gave one of the greatest performances of the decade with The Hunt so I would love to see him extend his talents to something like this. I could easily see him in the villain role as he can command the screen with a devastating and authoritative presence, but I don't know how much of that is down to his recent parts in things like Casino Royale and Hannibal - it's very easy to see him as the bad guy. Seeing him cast as the hero would be very, very interesting indeed.

He's superb as Hannibal. I've noticed people raving about The Hunt for years but haven't got around to watching it.

A great actor isn't necessarily right for any part though. Maybe he would be for this, maybe not.
