The Thor set visit embargo has been lifted and the interviews and articles are in full flow, but Collider's piece with Kevin Feige caught my eye, as the Marvel head honcho seems to confirm that an adaptation of Dr Strange will happen..eventually!..
There is a whole host of new info and interviews out there pertaining to Marvel's Thor now, and if you follow the links posted by DCMF below you can check em out. But one tid bit really caught my attention. In Collider's on set interview with Kevin Feige, he confirms Marvel's plans for a big screen outing for The Sorcerer Supreme, Dr Strange. The character's name has been mentioned before by the likes of Stan Lee, but this is the first time Feige or indeed anyone associated directly with Marvel Studio's movie output has suggested that a film is coming our way.

There is no way of knowing how far Marvel's plans for this movie have gone, there may not even be a first script draft. But, take comfort in the fact that they will get there..eventually! Be sure to check out the full interview for much more on Thor.

I would really like to see marvel go for a feature length theatrical release of an animated feature. I'm not saying that it should necessarily be Dr. Strange but I wouldn't mind it.

I feel like sorcerers apprentice was trying to pull off a dr. Strange kind of vibe from the trailer. I just hope they make it entertaining.

Would really love to see this finally get made, been waiting forever it seems(my 1st post was in 2008). Been waiting almost as long for something on the Moon Knight front as well. Last I heard about that, they were talking TV series. Done right, Dr. Strange would also make a good series. Someone at Marvel needs to talk to AMC!!!

When the movie does take off, I hope they use the same costume design as in the cartoon. I hope it's more of serious sorcessor apprentice or a Harry potter for adult type vibe to it. I know you guys are going to say he is over used but I think Johnny Depp would do a sweet job. Would be funny if the got Ed Norton for it. Lol

Doctor Strange in 2013?

The Marvel movie universe has slowly but surely been getting more otherworldly with Cosmic Cubes and Asgardian realms and whatnot, but that shift could be on the verge of going seismic as reports are indicating that a Doctor Strange movie is heating up.

Twitch reports that scripters Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer have just turned in a script about the Sorcerer Supreme and "Marvel is pushing forward with the property." They were hired last summer to bring the story of Stephen Strange to the screen, and have also toiled on Cowboys & Aliens and the Conan remake, as well as a draft of the Uncharted movie (for what it's worth).


The studio has made up a short list of directors and is "forwarding the current script to each to try and sign someone up to 'oversee continued development,'" possibly for a 2013 release.

This is interesting, because I had heard recently that Marvel was cooling on the prospect of the Strange movie. Then again, as Twitch points out, maybe the 'oversee continued development' thing means they don't love the current script and are looking for a director who can really shape it into something worthwhile. We'll see.

Yeah, you were trying to imagine what a big-budget Strange movie would look like and was picturing that, too, huh?

...Oh, well, maybe they'll improve on it as well. Sometimes a cheesy imitator can spark ideas with the real thing.

Well, I don't really follow the Doc Strange comics, outside of the animated movie a few years back, but I do like some of Nic's movies but think he could handle it. I actually enjoyed him in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, but didn't watch "Season of the Witch"...he seems to be into these supernatural movies of late (including Drive Angry and Ghost Rider movies). But really, I don't think he would be available.

Cool beans. I was skeptical because Marvel just doesn't do it like DC in the animated DTV department. I'll give this one a shot though.
