personally i thought the Dr Strange animated movie was pretty mediocre. its not the worst (id say thats Iron Man) but its not as good as the 2 Ultimates movies or Hulk movies. still worth checking out i guess.

Yeah, the only Marvel DTV I own is Planet Hulk. I liked Hulk Vs, but don't want it. I didn't like any of the other ones I saw (including the two Ultimate Avengers).

I just got planet hulk in the mail, but haven't watched it yet. Hope it's pretty good. I got Doctor strange, Planet Hulk and Next Avengers on ebay for 29 bucks, so even if I don't I like the other 2 I still got a pretty good deal.

I've never seen the Next Avengers one. The animation turns me off, but I'm still interested in it. Also, as you can see from earlier posts, I haven't seen Doctor Strange The Sorceror Supreme. All I can tell is you is that (with the exception of Beta Ray Bill replacing Silver Surfer due to Fox owning the character), Planet Hulk is a lot of fun. It's the only Marvel DTV film that I can honestly say is almost on the same level as DC's best DTV (Batman: MotP, Batman: UtRH, Wonder Woman, GL: First Flight -- IMO).

Well, you either like Nic or you don't. But I'm not feeling Josh in that role but that's just me.

I liked Next Avengers a lot more than Planet Hulk. If you can get past the fact they are teen Avengers, Next Avengers has a coherent storyline and sharp animation. It's better than several of the other animated movies from Marvel.

No-name actor for Strange. I dont want another Green Lantern fiasco. Conan and Thor got it right.

I'd say so. I found his comics to be interesting (though sometimes weird). The story of how he became Sorcerer Supreme is cool though.

i'll have to do some reading on him today here @ work.

is he a character in a different dimension or is he based more here on earth??

what i'd like to see is marvel lower the budget on this one. he's def. not a well known character and i'd hate to see them take a risk and it not pay off for them.

they've been so smart business wise w/their 5 movies so far, i'd like to see them continue to be successful.

Kind of both. when you read up on him, that should make sense. And yes, make it lower budget so they can hopefully recoup it (as he is a lesser known character). One thing's for certain though, Stan the Man Lee should be happy about this news.

I don't want any lower budget , marvel doesn't have to go low budget if they aren't sure if a movie will do to well all they have to do is make it a team up movie . Just have a guest star like in the comics with Iron man or Thor and they will be good to go . They don't even need to have an origin movie they could do that in a short film before a marvel movie so they could go right to the good stuff .

Though I wouldn't mind that for any other character, I think I'd prefer an origin tale for Doctor Strange. Yet, I can see how Marvel would be inclined to take that approach.

As for a lower budget film, I'm not talking Punisher 2004 (~$30 million), rather around $80 million.

The animated film is a pretty good origin story for Doctor Strange. I am a huge comic fan, but I didn't know his origin, just that he was a cool sorcerer. If they make a film for him, they already have an animated origin film, so would they really need to touch on his origins again? (just a question guys please don't start a huge argument over it. )
