"Social justice warrior" is a pejorative label invented (~2009) and used by men's rights activists/red pills and GamerGate to identify anyone doing anything they don't like: primarily attempts to open discussion on gender issues and equality.

Since you seem genuinely unaware of the term's actual usage, I apologize for the hot dog gif.

The term SJW is kind of pointless. You can just call the crazy social agenda people crazy and be done with it.

Now I really won't use it if those lame men's rights activists and GamerGate douches are the ones who came up with it. I also didn't know they use it for anyone who simply wants to open discussion on those topics. I always thought it was for the extremists or as spectre put it earlier, trolls.

Chiwetel Ejiofor's Role In DOCTOR STRANGE Finally Revealed
Quote:
We already know that Benedict Cumberbatch will play Doctor Strange and that Tilda Swinton is circling the role of The Ancient One, but it has now been revealed that Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) is set to star as the movie's main villain...with a twist!

Deadline has revealed that Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to play Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange. The villain first appeared in Strange Tales in 1963, and is an accomplished user of magic who was trained by the Ancient One. He's a long time foe of Dr. Strange who sided with Dormammu. However, the site adds that while the 12 Years A Slave star is playing Mordo, he may not be a full baddie. Instead, he's going to be "an amalgamation of characters culled from Doctor Strange‘s mythology."

Written by Jon Spaihts and directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange follows the story of the brilliant and arrogant neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who learns after a horrific car accident that his hands don’t hold the key to his powers. Instead, he discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. The movie is currently set to be released on November 4th, 2016.

2 out of the 3 (almost) confirmed cast members are definitely not typical choices imo. This is definitely looking to be a unique interpretation. My interest is not dwindling; that's for sure. I really think this film has the potential to be something great and really "magical."

Between Bendict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Tilda Swinton, this cast is going to be unbelievably high caliber, even compared to some of the great casting we've had in the past.

I know almost nothing about Doctor Strange but this cast is just incredible so far, I have high hopes for this. Also liking the little 12 Years a Slave reunion.

So Baron Mordo is like an evil Doctor Strange? As in:

Green Lantern = Sinestro
Superman = Eradicator
Spiderman = Carnage
Hulk = Abomination
Thor = Ragnarok
Iron Man = Iron Monger
Ant-Man = Yellowjacket

That's fair to say. Strange and Mordo both studied under the ancient one. Mordo was evil and Strange was good. Similar to a Loki/Thor relationship.

If anyone hasn't, I'd highly recommend the Doctor Strange animated film they put out. Watching that really made me excited for the types of things they could do on the big screen with this character.

they couldn't ever do a "straight" adaptation, because it would have ended up too much like the wonderful animated film they already did.

I added my mention of the animated film after you posted, I assume. I adore that animated film, so honestly, if it was more of the same I'd still be happy. We really know nothing about the story yet. Going with a "straight" adaptation i.e. Old asian male as ancient one and middle aged "white" male as mordo doesn't prevent them from taking the story in a unique direction. My comment about the unique adaptation thus far is based solely on casting.

Which animated film are you guys discussing? One of the Marvel D2V cartoons based on a single comic arc?

The animated film is what sparked my interest in the live action when I watched it a good while back now. Its very good.

Also on Netflix for those who don't want to blind buy (unless its been removed in the last year and a half )

I just hope they don't waste another amazing actor on an underdeveloped villain. This sounds like a good character with a lot of depth, but I remember being excited for a few good actors before (Hugo Weaving, Christopher Eccleston, Lee Pace).

This is definitely the film I have the most interest in of the new characters.
